Any thoughts about the Revel’s new Rhythm 2 except the price, more on the side of performance.

The DSP looks interesting; it would be nice to have a standalone unit that could be used with any Sub. You could get firmware updates and companies could provide map data on old and new subs, limiting how much you can pull the sub with correction.

They make it a point to say (in another article) “According to Revel Product Development Manager Kevin Voecks, a major design goal for the B150 was very high output with low distortion—and without the use of servos of any kind”
Wonder why they are anti-servo?

At that price I would love to see a comparison between it and the Paradigm sub 2

Hello,

Using a preamp has to sets of outputs, is it possible to drive one (or two) Rhythm 2 with the second set and use them to smooth the room modes in the frequency range where they work? The sofware would need to read the main speaker frequency response and phase in that range and set the Rhythm 2 to compensate it. Is this possible? I would not like to run the main speakers through the Rhythm two.
Thanks,

VPN

I posted this in the Revel speakers thread, but thought it might be more appropriate here. The Revel Rhythm2 subwoofer - the flagship sub of the Revel Ultima line - is on final closeout. As of Friday afternoon (6/17/16) there were only six left in the country. If anyone is interested in these, now is the time to act There are some pretty good discounts available.

There is an excellent review of the Rhythm2 here, with input from Kevin Voecks himself. It discusses in depth the high end LFO correction software which comes bundled with these subs, which is essentially a "lite" variation on JBL's ARCOS room correction system:

The article goes a pretty long way toward answering the question posted directly above

Posting a link to those close out deals would be helpful to anyone who might be interested in partaking.

If you take yourself too seriously, expect me to do the exact opposite

PM sent.

Revel is not sold online, so the closeout deal is through authorized Revel dealers only, either brick and mortar or Custom Integrators like myself.

Fantastic sub, one of the best ever built, it's my guess that the build costs were high in relation to sales volume.

Too bad. I was also a huge fan of the B15a. A used one came up for sale for a super low $500. Sold in less than a day.

Speaker makers sometimes make really good subs but the number crunchers just look at db # and response and say a cheaper sub is a better value. Some times it's nice to just have a matching set of Speakers and Sub. To some the extra cost is okay.

Most systems I see with Revel speakers use JL Audio subs. I wonder why a speaker company can not make both great selling Speakers and Subs?

Actually, it's my understanding that the Revel B112 and B110 subs sell very well. We've been doing a lot of Concerta2 B10s lately. The Rhythm2 was a different story, I guess, simply because of price point.

The guys at Harman will tell you that the "ARCOS-Lite" LFO software that can be used with the Rhythm2, B112, and B110 is almost as important as the subs themselves, as it is based on all the research undertaken by Toole, Olive, etc, in their quest to give excellent bass response seat to seat (of course, multiple subs are required for the optimum result).

FYI there are also some B112 and B110 B stock subs floating around right now too

Quick update - as of this morning, all black Rhythm2s are gone. There are still a few left in Walnut.
