I have that voice in my head to go bigger. Should I keep my new pb12nsd or return it in favor of a vtf15h or psa Xv15?

Either sub will be a big step over what you have now with respect to mid bass, I would return it. At 50 hz the XV15 has been shown to be over 9 dB louder than the NSD, that is a pretty big difference. The VTF15h's performance difference will be spread more through out the entire frequency range, as it has a flatter frequency response than the XV15.

No, amplifier watts don't mean much alone. Other factors such as cabinet volume, port length and volume, driver sensitivity and other parameters also have a lot to say about end performance. My guess is it would not have quite as much output as the XV15 at around 50 hz, but more above and below that point, depending on how you decide to tune it. It is a larger sub though, you might want to do a mockup of it before you order it, to get a good idea of its size.

OP, did you check here before ordering? The sub you have is a lot different than the ones you're thinking about getting. The classes are totally different. I own two 15H's and as mentioned before, they are very large subs. Make sure you have the room. I haven't heard the XV-15. Owners here like the sub. I can personally tell you that the 15H is a great sub but don't get sticker shock when you see the shipping charge. biggrin.gif

If you were actually in the room with a 15H with a movie that has a good bass track, I promise you that you wouldn't think anything other than that this sub may have too much power. biggrin.gif

Yes I know the shipping cost. I just don't want to keep wondering what if after my trial period is over. Is the hsu worth the extra dollars for the shipping and taxes. Over the svs.

I haven't heard that SvS but I can tell you that it isn't in the same league as the 15H. I was about to order a smaller Hsu sub before getting my first 15H but had the same 'what if' that you are having now. i knew that no matter hiw well the smaller sub performed, I was going to end up returning it so I went big from the start.

The XV15 would also be in a class above the sub you have. That's really all I can say about that.

The pb12plus is $1,400 isn't it? If you can swing it and want to stay with svs, go for it.

One good thing about svs is even if you keep the sub you have, you should be able to trade it towards a pb12 plus within the first year if you keep it in good shape and keep all of the original items that came with it. Gotta love that.

For roughly $1400 you could also get a Rythmik FV15HP, which has PB13 Ultra levels of performance. You might also look into the Power Sound XV30 for that much. Both those would cream a PB12 Plus.
