I know what you mean. Not on eBay either. A they are so good so you don't see much resale or B they are not as popular because of the steep piece.
Thanks for looking for me.

Yea, the 12012s are rare indeed. 808s are more common in the used market. I am fortunate to be in a country that has a local agent for KK, and there are many used ones going around.

I was fortunate to have used both the 12012 and 808 in my system before. Though there is not much available data out there, but what i can say is that the KK's bass quality is top notch. The midbass is very very layered and detailed, to a point that I was able to hear 'extra' details in the midbass region in same movie scenes that I could not hear on other subs. Impressed. It's 2nd to none in terms of layering and 'speed' of the bass.

The bass is very sharp and accurate too. I've done a blind test with both Rythmiks and the kk, and man, u can really differentiate the kk's distinct layered, fast bass, and the impact thump in the chest.

But it's price point is much higher than many subs. So qn is whether we are willing to fork out more budget.

I'm in the US and would buy a used one right away. $3000 for a new one is way too much for me. Quality is quality but for that much I'd rather spend it on 3 Hsu's. I need more than one sub as it is. I was just fortunate enough to have won the Kreisel 12012 at the home theater shack.
What can I say about the single one I own. Clean, tight, precision, fast. Especially when you raise the crossover to 100hz the midbass is clear and tight.

Well Ken replied and he mentioned no prices have been announced yet for the DXD XL.
I kinda figured he'd say that lol.

I notice in forums including this one that there is really no mention on Kreisel subs as far as advertisement other than from members and that is few far and between. For example the 2015 holiday gift guide mentions HSU, SVS, Paradigm.

Yep! its the layered bass and what it reveals in movies and music that's just flat out addicting and I had no problems shelling out for my second and same goes for the third and fourth, I've contemplated other subs to augment the rear and while there are stellar options and prices that are unbelievable I'm going to focus on other aspects of my setup whilst I wait for Ken to bring the new toys to light

I recently moved out of my house, and I am living in a temporary apartment till my new house is finished built. I do have a KK12012 sitting in storage doing absolutely nothing and I wont be able to use it for a good year+, so I am willing to part with mine.

*Please note that two KEN KREISEL 12” drivers approaches or equals the cone area of a single 18” driver.
With the KK is it considered as having one driver vs two since it is set up as push pull or considered 2 separate acting drivers?

Both are active drivers and "push pull" would be considered the configuration, since they are combined in a single enclosure this gives the radiating surface area which (depending on the 18" driver in question)"approaches or equals the cone area of a single 18” driver".

I emailed Ken yesterday and below is what he said.

I am sworn to secrecy about a specific release date for the new DXD’s and DXD XL’s. Again, it depends on how quickly we fill orders for the new pro studio systems for Dolby Atmos (also DTS:X, etc). The studio guys have top priority on the production line.

I'm sure the XL will cost more than the DXD. I can't wait to read up on it.

Question! How come Ken has no more subs to sell like other companies like SVS, HSU, Rythmik to name a few.
He is out of the DXD plus they are rare.

Good question! from what I understand they were'e limited editions with the faux leather and gloss sides, the new will not have this. They will be able to stack along with the others one may have but may not look the same.

I have the dxd 12012 stacked and both are set to green dot reference level. In using an spl meter, one sub measures around 3db less than the other from MLP. Is this a normal finding?
