Anyone know a great demo disc for powerful bass for your subwoofer? I am NOT talking about movies on bluray. I am talking about a disc which is made for demo or short demo scenes.

I was watching the movie Aliens on bluray the other day. After the movie was done, there was a THX demo scene which knocked me out of my couch!!! ha ha ha

I thought my walls was going to fall down.

The bass from the THX demo was extremely powerful that all my curtains in the back of the room was moving back. It was like a strong wind just pushed all the curtains back. UNBELIEVABLE POWERFUL BASS!!!

My room is quite large. It is about 22 feet wide and 40 feet long. With a 10 feet ceiling. My subwoofer is the SVS PB12-PLUS with the latest Sledge STA-800D amplifier.

The funny thing is that I have been watching the movie Aliens many times but never watch the end credits. I never watch credits for ALL movies but somehow a few days ago I just let the end credits roll all the way through and that's when I saw the short THX demo movie. It is quite stunning for your subwoofer.

Are there any more demo disc on Bluray that is like the THX demo?

That must be one hell of a special sub. I can't get that much air movement out of my 6 18's with 4,000 watts in half that size space. cool.gif

Here's one. Get just the bass segment or, just for fun, get the whole thing:

Are you listening to that THX demo on reference volume level at 0db?

I was thinking getting another PB12-PLUS from SVS but after that THX demo, I will pass. I don't want to destroy my home. ha ha ha

It was so powerful that some items in the next room had falling off the table. I probably should not play the THX demo to many times or my walls will start to crack.

Correction on the size of my room. It is 20 feet wide and 30 feet long.

Thats a 6000cubic/ft room, I think you'd have a pretty had time pressurizing it with only one PB12-Plus wouldn't you?

Please, guys, not the point of this thread. Let's forgive the OP's hyperbole and try to find what he's looking for.

ScubaSteve's discs are (AFAIK) no longer available. Leo and I are working on volume 2 of his reference demo disc. I was able to get a demo disc from CES that's terrific, but not bass-specific.

Anything else out there?

Good point. You certainly don't want to affect your homes resale value; or even worse have it cave in on you during a spirited THX demo. I'd recommend checking with your insurance company and see if you can add subwoofer protection to your policy.

I am sorely disappointed in the CES 2012 DTS Demo Disc after paying $30 for it. There was some good tracks but most left me thinking "What did they pick THIS scene?!"

I have been scouring all Blus for awesome demo scenes so I have a few ideas if you'd like to collect some.

Since they give them away at CES, $30 is a bit much and, yes, probably more than it's worth. But it's a "collectible," so it may (some day) be worth something.

We're probably beyond the "few ideas" stage, but you can PM Leo and see if he needs help with anything. We're currently working on the surround demo section. Music, Bass, and Animation are done.

Typo. the 2012 disc is quite good, even for the DTS intros and drum number alone. The 2013 disc is weak to say the least.

If you liked those (Steve's), then you'll like this one (Leo's).

Apparently, there don't seem to be many (any?) others.
