Hey everyone,

My sub has starting acting strangely. After being dissconnected for several months, I finally got around to reconnecting everything and now the sub --- when plugged directly to wall power and nothing else it continuously thumps hard in a regular interval. Any ideas on the issue? Worth digging in and troubleshooting?

A malfunction of the auto-on feature?

Can you disable the auto-on feature?

Thanks for the reply. Doesnt appear to be related to that, either position of that feature yields same result.....a capcitor click and then thump, rinse repeat. Maybe bad power supply eh?

Then my guess becomes, maybe a defective power relay. Don't know what's wrong but it now sounds like it's time to go to the subwoofer hospital.

If it's not worth the shipping and repair charges, then it's time for a replacement subwoofer. Maybe a nice on sale at Newegg, Klipsch, RW-12d or an Amazon purchased BIC, PL-200?

Yah I might disassemble and see what I can come up with. Sort of disappointing that its failed already considering it isn't that old. Blech. My Onkyo receiver is jacked up too, but thats another story. I have everything surge protected, a shame that it failed so quickly (3-4 years).

Oddly, I just moved from WI to FL and have the same sub (came with the Harman HKTS 18 HTiB) - after the relo company got our stuff into our new place in FL, I hooked up my TS18 and had the same exact issue as you - would just click, thump, repeat - I took the plate amp off and examed the boards inside - couldn't see anything readily apparant so I called Harman. They said out of luck, no replacement plate amps available. I ordered a Cadence CSX12 for $280 shipped on Thursday.

Whelp. I guess thats it. Purchasing on 6/18/2008 and dead on 2/23/2013. I guess 4.5 years isn't terrible....where the hell does the time go? I feel like I just bought this stuff. Now off to other area of the forums to do some shopping I guess.

Replace the amp if the driver is OK. Go to Parts Express.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like I'm damn near half way to a whole new unit though eh?
