My components are in a closet behind the screen and the subwoofer sits left of the screen. Its only about fifteen feet away but the signal does have to travel through the wall so it doesn't require true line of sight. At least not at the distance I'm using it for. I am interested in how it works with two receivers because at some point I want to add a second sub. I did some research prior to buying it and I can't remember where I found it, but I'm pretty sure you can use two receivers with one transmitter. I think I read that in the forum of the Dayton website. Would be interested to see if anybody has any experience with that.
To be fair to the Subcast system, it seemed to work well for about a year without any problems but once it started having the dropouts it was a huge nuisance and nothing I did to try to fix the problem helped. I'm much happier, so far, with this unit. Compared to the Sub-link, the Subcast units were larger, cost 3x as much, and its appearance was more interesting to my 11 month-old.
