Long time lurker, first time poster biggrin.gif

So I've had this NuTone system for quite a few years, I was able to buy it through my work at cost plu 10. Granted I know I'm not getting the highest quality product in the market, but it does what I need it to do.

Out of the box it worked fine for a few years, bought as a home theater speaker package for 5.1 setup. About 4 years ago It stopped providing as much output, power indicator light showed on and I would get crackling/static without the receiver being on. However when providing input it's output is low to minimum at best. I've changed cables and changed receivers, I have also tested the sub using my iphone with RCA connectors and it seemed to work better.

Right now I'm using a Sony STR-DH520 with a Y-adapter and have the SW level cranked up to max.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

bump.

Just tried the iphone test again and strangely it didn't work. Something is telling me there's either a loose connection in the electronics of the sub or a bad capacitor.
