Hey all. So my old subwoofer went kaput. its a long story, read the thread "definitive Sub" if u want details. Now im in the market for a new sub. unfortunately im stuck in the $200-$300 price range. I'm currently in a 800 sqft apartment and am looking to buy a house with my gf. so i want something that wont be too overpowering for an apartment but that can also put out enough solid sound for a full size family room. I will be using this sub for mostly movies / gaming. Music will be used a lot too but it just wont be a major focus. my old sub was a front firing definitive tech 700w sub. i know that i cant expect to match that with my price range, so i'm open to suggestions.

Klipsch RW-12d. Probably best sub you can get for under $300. Goes on sale about every other week at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780078

Here's a discussion thread for it: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1442829/klipsch-rw-12d-on-sale-for-299-at-newegg-com-again-today

Ditto for the RW-12D.

If you get a sub that can meet your demands with movies, the music will be covered in spades.

As an aside - I always find it amusing when folks don't want an "overpowering" sub...there just ain't no such thing. biggrin.gif
