At 20 Hz, our subs vary in their maximum output capability. The output at 20 Hz is shown relative to F12.
•F12: 0db (baseline)
•F15: +2db D15: +2db
•FV12: +3db
•E15HP: + 3.5db
•F15HP: +4db
•FV15: +7db
•FV15HP: +9db
•F25: +7db

considering those info ... buying a fv12 at 599$ is almost the same output as buying a f15hp at 1274$ ... what would be the point of buying the fv12 then ????

i know 1 is sealed and 1 is ported , but other than that , if they have the same output , whats the point ?

With sufficient room gain, the F15HP should extend lower than the FV12 (no longer available; replaced by the LV12R). And it may (does?) have greater output at higher frequencies, which is worth something if you plan to play more than just 20Hz notes... wink.gif

And then there's the (subjective?) matter of the sealed F15HP having a cleaner / "tighter" / more "musical" sound than the ported FV12, which only really matters if music - rather than HT - is your primary focus.

You can't hear the difference between a ported and a sealed sub because there isn't a difference that can be purely attributed to it being ported or sealed, there are many other factors involved. You can see the difference in their measured responses and maximum output. Data-bass is one place where you can see measured results with different subs.
