New question pls. I have a denon avr2113, q acoustics 2000ci centre, 2020i fronts and qav rears but no sub. Sounds great as it is with bass from 2020i. Should I get a sub and if so which? Looked at q acoustics 2070si and 7000s, any ideas. Large living room for uk

Budget?

It's all about the size of the room to be filled and the budget one has to fill the room with.

Q Acoustics? Not sure you can get those in the US. Where are you located? That will go a long way toward determining what options are available to you.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Sorry. The whole UK thing throws me as I'm clueless as to what's available to you. frown.gif

In my opinion, based on your budget, with shipping and import taxes, anything US based that I can recommend, will quickly cause complications and easily exceed your stated budget. The best I can suggest is checkout your local Amazon dealer and see what Amazon has to offer.

Amazon.UK: "subwoofers."

The Cambridge and Wharfedale's look promising as UK shipping is included in the price.

It is highly unlikely that 5 inch woofers are going to get you strong, clean response down to 30-40 Hz, which is what is required for some kind of approximation of reasonble reproduction of music.

I don't know where you are at in terms of listening to live music that is like the recordings that you listen to, but doing so can be a good idea.

The only company I know of that sells quality subwoofers in the UK is SVS (I'm sure there are others, but that's the only one I can think of at the moment). Their PB1000 and SB1000 should be close to what you're looking to spend, and they're very good subs. If you can swing it the SB12-NSD would probably suit your needs the best though.

I know MJ Acoustics and BK Electronics are available in your area, but I would avoid them. I've had personal dealings with both, and the arrogance and indifference they displayed was really quite alarming. The frequency response numbers they show on their websites strike me as very optimistic as well, which is another red flag. Caveat emptor with those two...

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite
