Looking to upgrade and wanted to receive some feedback. I almost pulled the trigger on a product but again just wanted to get some additional thoughts from end users before I do. I don’t want to over think this, but don’t want to regret buying something I didn’t plan or account for later. From what I can tell, most of the products in their respective price points are pretty equal and would probably be happy with any of them.
Anyway, my goals are mainly music (80/20), at least as to what’s most important. If I can dial in the music, then HT should be good. I also like the bass hot and listen on the louder end (-15 to -10).
- My space is just under 1,800 cubic ft and is open to the sides (hallways). Although the MLP is on the long wall and no free area behind.
- 5.1 system – Marantz 6006, mac mini with iTunes, Panny 55S1, BD, KEF IQ90, IQ60, PL200 sub, surrounds etc.
- Subwoofer size is a constraint and more than likely will place the sub(s) to the left and right of the MLP. The only way they would fit up front is to replace my current “entertainment center” and get a narrow type of rack to only hold the AV gear and no media. Probably not gonna happen at this point.
I initially was going to go with one sub in the $700 range but now I’m thinking dual’s in the $1500 range (don’t want to go over that). Something like the VTF- 15 is too big and I’m leaning towards PSA or Rythmik. Specifically, I’m pretty set on two XS15’s but wondering if say two F12’s or one F15HP or one ULS15 is maybe a consideration. However two decent subs appear to be better than one “better” sub
Without having experimenting with different subs over the years as others have, it’s a bit difficult as I don’t have a reference point.
Anyway thanks for any assistance.
