Had a JBL sub and the amp has blown out after 7 years..looking to replace been doing some research over the past day or so and seeing we don't have many good options in canada compared to the states for the price range.

This is mainly for Movies/TV, Gaming with some music.

Can get a BIC F-12 on ebay shipped to me here for around $310 after duties. Other option was the Klipsch RW-12D on newegg right now for $279 + duties + tax something like $380 but I have to go across the border to pick it up (another like 50 bucks in gas).

Question was is there anything in Toronto that I can go into a store and pick up within the $300-$400 after taxes that's comparable?

Thanks

Dunno about $300-$400, but you can pick up a well-rated SVS PB-1000 for ~$563 (taxes in) from SonicBoomAudio.com in Richmond Hill.

-- Edit --
Actually, the Klipsch SUB-12 might be an option, when it's on sale at BestBuy for ~$300.

I was checking out SVS but that's realllly over my price range don't want to spend more than $400.

Does the Sub-12 go on sale alot? I've been without a sub for the past couple weeks now and going insane without bass was looking to buy soon

Futureshop and Bestbuy sell their Klipsch subs at 50% off pretty regularly. You can grab a 12" for that price but you get what you pay for. I'd save up and go with the SVS.

Would second the SVS. I have looked at retail subs, I have had the SB-1000 in my house, and if you can, save the money.
Compared it with a more expensive Martin Logan from Future Shop, no comparison. Tighter bass, better extension. No one regrets a good audio purchase. Get the PB-1000 for movies and games.
The sub 12 will probably be your next best choice, seen a number of people recommend it in your price bracket. Good luck.

I hope you enjoy the sub! The BIC are about the best you can get for the price.
