I'm just curious if anyone has had both to compare 1 on 1.. I know the ultra is almost twice the price,I'm just curious about compare performance.. Or is it not a fair comparison?

not apples to apples. At the very least you would need to compare a PB13Ultra to the XV30.

How do you like the xs15's? I wonder how one of those sounds compared to the xv15.. Tom told me to go with the xv15..Which I did and have had for a few months.. Sounds great. I just get curious like the next guy on comparisons..

Sorry I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ but its just not fair to compare those two subs. Go to data-bass.com and you can compare all of the measurements and even overall some graphs of both subs.

I don't have a XS15.

Oh,sorry XS30.. Why is it not fair? I read the bass.com,it looks like the sb13 goes into 12.5 hz territory and the xv15 doesn't.. That is kind of odd..Unless I'm reading it wrong..

for the price the sb13ultra is not a bargain. you can get 2 xv15's for 1500.00 shipped and they will have more output from 20hz on up and you gain the benifit of havings 2 subs to smooth the rooms bass response. jbrown is correct, comparing the svs flagship sub to the PSA mid range sub is not apples to apples.

12hz is for bragging rights...there is not much need for output below 15hz since there is not much content out there that has it.

+1 this. I would also add that no PSA or SVS sub is going to get you any real 12 hz output unless you bought a whole stack of sealed subs.

That's only partly true, dual XS30's will hit 12hz with some good output.

yes they will, but how often are your xs30's fed content that plays 12hz?

Well considering there's probably less then 5% movie content with sub 15hz, probably not that often. Which also the reason why I went with the XS30's, they have double the output of the XV15 in the (slam) mid bass.

no doubt the xs30's have double the midbass output of the xv15....however my a7's have plenty of midbass output so I felt there was no need to double up on mid bass. having a sub that picks up where my fronts drop off is what i was looking for, different strokes for different folks wink.gif

That's what's great about the XS30 over the XV15 though, less then 1db output in the 20-30hz range, more output below 20hz and double the output above 30hz. Of course you pay more so not apples to apples. I was all set to buy dual XS30's until Tom told me to hold off because they were just about to release the XS30. I bought two less then 30 mins after the email from Tom that they were now available, and they aren't going anywhere till PSA releases their next big sub or I win the lotto wink.gif

I agree but dual xs30's was not in my budget and dual xv15's offer quite bit more in the 20-30hz range over one xs30.

Exactly, that's why I said its not a fair apples to apples. And IMO dual XV15's are better then a single XS30 too if that's all your budget could allow. smile.gif

The pisser is I had the money for dual xs30's and some but I had unexpected expenses come up...so I had to settle for dual xv15's or one xs or xv30. Imo dual subs are the only way so xv15's it was. Trust me, I envy your dual xs30 setup!!

I have 1 XV15 and a Jamo Sub 7 THX Ultra. The Jamo is sealed. Sounds really good. I don't listen to stuff that loud. I was watching transformers dark of the moon last night at -25. I have the Jamo in the rear right corner, sounds really good there. I had the XV15 up front between the tv and left speaker, the output was lacking. I moved it last night to the left rear corner, much better, but do I want both subs behind me in the corners? There is about 6' behind me,so they aren't right behind my couch.
