Hello everyone, I have been a long time lurker but finally signed up today so I could enjoy the posting aspects of this site.

Quick background, I just bought my first home last summer and it came with a theater room in the basement which I believe was constructed in the late 90s and was used as a bedroom by the previous owners. It has the stage, riser and 6.1 sound hard wired.

My AV experience was nil before I started reading here. I had been using an 26" 720p Olevia with a $250 sony HTIB since college so you can get an idea what I am coming from. I have probably spent in the neighborhood of 300 hours or so on here since January learning about projectors, receivers, speakers, screens, subs, and room setup. I am still extremely green and really look forward to absorbing as much as I can, I have become very passionate about learning all things home theater.

Since January I have slowly purchased:

-Visual Apex package with Epson 8350 and 120" fixed frame screen
-Pioneer 1222 receiver
-Pioneer C22 center speaker
-Pioneer FS52 Fronts
-Polk OWM3 surround speakers
-Klipsch rw-12d

I am using this for primary blu-ray movies and games on the ps3 until college football/basketball season start up and then will be using it for mainly watching sports. I have run the mcaac program while I was still using my old sony HTIB sub and then did the tweaks gusgus provided in his pdf (thank you for that by the way!). The Klipsch arrived on Friday and I just plugged it in using the previous settings. Every thread I have read regarding this says start out the sub at 25% volume but since this sub doesn't have a dial and if I understand correctly the +-db numbers aren't linear, how do I know what number value to assign as 25% so I can rerun mcaac? Is there any benefit to me rerunning the program or should I just make the adjustments at the sub-woofer level? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Run your Klipsch down to around -23db as a start. That's where it zeros out on my Yamaha with ypao.

I have the 1122-K and ran MCACC with my dual RW-12Ds and when going through the setup MCACC told me to turn the volume down on them.

They were at the default 0 on the LCD panel and I had to turn them down to either -6 or -8 I believe to get it to "pass" and continue on with the test. Afterwards I bumped them back up a few to -4 as a personal preference.

Pioneer VSX-1122-K
Cerwin Vega XLS-215 (Front/Left)
Cerwin Vega XLS-6C (Center)

Thanks for the input. I ran it at -23 and it couldn't detect it and prompted me to turn it up. I ran again at -13 and it came back on the trim as a 0. I did the bass tweaks from the pdf and turned it up to about -8. It sounds good now, not overpowering like before.

Have anyone compare the Klipsch RW 12D vs Klipsch SW112 to the Klipsch SUB 12HG?
The RW 12D and SUB12 are basically the same price
Which one you think would be better in a 24x52 room playing music?

Even if your listening area is less the open floor plan will work against you and the one RW12.

Good news for you that a very popular iD company just released a subwoofer designed for larger rooms, in your room size four of these will do the trick http://www.powersoundaudio.com/products/triax biggrin.gif
