I currently have an Energy 5.1 Take Classic System. I purchased it after a bit of research and I love the speakers; however, the subwoofer lacks that extra level that I want. I have an Denon 1513 receiver. The current sub that comes with the Take Classics is a 200 Watt, 8 inch firing woofer. So my question is, does anyone have experience with/recommend a subwoofer thats more powerful and can hold its own better than the current Energy one I have? The energy one works great for movies but for music it's not that great and that's what I mostly listen to.

Thanks

Yup. Have it paired with B&W 684's and I'm quite happy. The rw-12d is generally considered the best bang for your buck sub.

I don't have personal experience with it, but I've read numerous positive comments from people on this site who have bought it and are very happy with it.

You won't find a better value in a subwoofer in the $270-$300 range.

Unless you get lucky like I did. Picked up a Epik Legend with dual 12" woofers for $260 locally on Craigslist.

Wow, that is a great deal on the epik legend. I looked for some used deals for a couple weeks but couldn't find anything. Saw a bic f12 used for like $30 less than new price. Screw that, I'd rather have a brand new one for that price.

This is a question asked daily....there's even a sticky on it...

Search option is extremely underutilized here on AVS

The HSU STF-2 is on sale and worth a look. It won't have as much output ad the Klipsch, but is no slouch and sounds fabulous.

hers is a vtf-mk1

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hsu-Reseach-Vtf-Mk1-/130915211859?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item1e7b279a53

these subs may still be under warranty being hsu has a 7yr driver/5yr amp warranty thats transferable. I would prefer anything hsu over bic...just sayin.
