I've been using the same Velodyne HGS-10 series II sub for 10 years in my living room system and really have had no complaints. It performs like a champ. However, ignorance is bliss, and I have a feeling I don't know what I'm missing by adding another sub to the equation for movie-watching. The room is primarily 13 x 20 feet, with 8-foot ceiling. I say primarily because one long wall actually opens up to a dining room area. The back wall opens to the entrance way of my house. The Velodyne specs indicate it goes down to 35 Hz +-3dB. Is there a second sub out there that would blend nicely with my Velo? I'm looking at a price range of $1,000 or less. Thanks for any assists.

I’m afraid the HGS-10 series II sub would be the best match.. any chance on starting out over again? I’m not being snotty or rude, just trying to steer you in the rite direction is all. Subs can be mixed but generally things don’t work out so well.

I don't really want to lose the Velo. Like I said, I've had it a long time, it performs great for its size, and looks like it just came out of the box yesterday. I was hoping just to fortify it with another similar sealed cube. If I replaced the Velo, what would be a decent upgrade?

+1 Two LVR’s would serve you well. You could always try to incorporate the Velo and see what you think? You would then have two good subs and the mindset of not having to loose the Velo. See what happens from there? Mixing subs generally cause cancelations.. there are ways to battle against it and sometimes it can work out quite well.

Another option would be to pick up another or dual from PSA, Rythmik or SVS to name a few. http://www.powersoundaudio.com/collections/power-x http://www.svsound.com/?gclid=CPS4s-ec87YCFUxxQgod_lYAVQ http://www.rythmikaudio.com/LV12R.html

Is the LVR so ugly that Rythmik won't post a pic?

Two subs that size are probably a bit much for my space. I have a wife to live with; its size is why I purchased the Velo 10 in the first place. I've been looking for a used HGS without much luck. Maybe I ought to just keep looking?
