The title pretty much says it all. I tell that to people at local car audio shops and they just give me a funny look. I already have two 10" ...they are way too quiet and don't seem to be able to reproduce the lower end of the spectrum? Does anyone have any suggestions?

When a sub says it can produce 25hz-1000hz is that even true? sounds like too wide of a range also how well can it reproduce those sounds at each point along that stated segment?

I appreciate your time and feedback.

Subs don't play to 1000Hz because they don't need to. Usually, they'll play up to ~120-150Hz, occasionally up to ~200Hz (better for integrating with smaller satellite-type speakers).

SVS' subs have a nice, flat FR within a good range. Example: The PB12-NSD, flat from 18-150Hz +/-3dB.

Ditto PSA's subs, like the XV15 (flat from 21-200Hz +/-3dB).

Question is: At what level of output do you still want to see ruler-flat response? Generally-speaking, the louder you go, the less likely a sub will continue to play flat to the lower limit of its rated range.

Re. the vote: I'd go with 15" or 18". Since I can't pick both, and since I have dual 18" subs, I'll vote for 18". smile.gif
