I am about to upgrade the subwoofer in my home theater. I just sold my old, original model, Outlaw LFM-1. (Ignore it in the photos.)
I am considering one of two options that are both around $1,000:
Two SVS PB-1000's
The room is a loft space. You can see the opening to the stairs in the photo.
The room is 19 feet long from front to back.
The room is 11' 6" wide with an open set of stairs. As a result, the area behind the couch is about 8' wide.
The couch is 12' 7" front the front wall.
There is about 6' 5" from the back of the couch to the rear wall with the bookcase.
The ceiling slopes upwards towards towards a point above which is a few feet ahead of the couch.
Probably about 1,800 cu/ft and then add on the open staircase.
Currently using KEF iQ 10's for LCR, and older KEF eggs for rears and heights.
100% Home Theater. I crank up the volume at times but not insane SPL's.
I'm torn. The HSU should have lower bass and more impact. But the PB-1000's should go down to 19hz which is fine, assuming they can do it well in my room. They would also offer a smoother response, but my seating area is just one couch, usually just a few people so not sure if that is a factor.
So, if it was your room, which option would you choose?
