I'm new to this home theater stuff and I am currently setting up our living room system on a new house. I am looking for a subwoofer to complete my setup and I figured you guys could really help me out. Here is my current setup (I know its not the best):

-Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR-16
-Front: Minx11's (L&R)
-Center: Minx21
-Rear: JBL SPC8ii in ceiling

Our living room is about 17x20 in a somewhat "open" floorplan. I am not looking for something to blow me away, just something that is a good compliment to my speakers. Due to the way our room is setup, my options are to put it under our cabinet (about 7inches of clearing space) or something that is considered to be "compact" that I can place on the side. I've researched the Yamaha YST-FSW150 that could fit under cabinet, but not sure how that would sound with my setup and room size. Thoughts on that Yamaha with my setup?

If that won't work, could someone give me a few compact/smaller sub options that would work out for me? I am trying to stay under $350.

Thanks

You might give this kit a look, it is very easy to assemble and you do save money on the assembly:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-770
I think that could be a pretty good sub for the price.

How do you think that would compare to the PA-150?

My guess is it won't have quite as much deep bass output as the PA-150, but it should have nearly as much upper and mid bass output.

I still like the good old HSU STF-2 in the $350 range, but it isn't exactly compact.

I had one and wasnt at all impressed. And its almost $400 delivered. Plus if youre disappointed like I was it will cost you about $70 to return it.

LOL.. . I hope you don’t start a thread asking (what do you think a Pro 800 is worth) If you don’t get the joke, don’t be offended it’s not directed at you. wink.gif

The PA-150 for $350 or the Klipsh RWd12 that goes on sale on Newegg for $279.

What about 1 of these? Its pretty compact. This is the size I'm looking for but don't know if an 8-inch will sound too good.

If Jim Wilson likes it then its worth a try. He is well respected here.
