EDIT: Bought the SB-1000

Been awhile since I've been in the market. I know this thing is highly regarded as all svs subs are, but I haven't been able to dig up if this is the best solution for price and size. Size is important here as its going under the desk of the studio thats in my profile pic. I could do slightly larger but I'm not really interested in more than 16 inches every which way. Also some thoughts about output to frequency would be appreciated. The size of the room is...oh.....probably 10-11ft wide, 9-ft high, 15ft deep. Obviously quite near-field. I hear you only get a good 3db boost by stepping up to the SB12-NSD and maybe 1-2hz lower of strong response.

For film I've always been more of a modest listener. I can't say I've put my PB2+ to much use since the college dorm. It has always occupied a rather large room however and I've grown accustom to it's ability to wake up and dig deep when it has to without a hint of struggle. It's hard to understand just from numbers whether I'll be disappointed with one of these little guys or not. I am an independent filmmaker and sound designer so tremendous output isn't as much of a concern as representation.

The SB-1000 should do fine in that room. Enjoy!

Give SVS a call, they will help you. I had one in my possession for about a month, sounded great to me. Might be something off in how you have things set up, or you might need a different place to put it in the room.

I realized it was this receiver I was using. I dont know what is wrong with it but it screws up the bass signal. Now that i've got it hooked up to something else I've been pounding the s*** out of this thing all morning :]
