Anyone know of a good subwoofer to match with the orb audio MOD2's for around $200? I sold my orbs to a friend and replaced them with bigger speakers. I had an old 75 watt Yamaha sub that I gave him, but he wants something a little better without spending too much. It would also have to extend up to 150hz as that is the crossover for the orbs. I was thinking maybe that new Pioneer 8" Pioneer subwoofer from the Andrew Jones line.

That sub looks Like an awesome performer, but some of the reviews on Amazon mention reliability issues.

I have one hooked up to one of our Touch Tunes Jukeboxes and it has worked flawlessly so far.

The Pioneer 8" sub is not a very good output performer. Best for computer desktop setups or small bedrooms.

I've heard, too, that the JBL ES sub series has amp reliability problems. For JBL, this JBL Studio 1 Series SUB150P has been on sale at Newegg for under $200 a few times. Testimonials at Newegg are excellent. Might be worth keeping an eye on for a sale. Here's a review: http://www.avhub.com.au/images/stories/australian-hifi/reviews/2011-05_to_12/2011-11/jbl_sub150p_subwoofer_review_lores.pdf

The PA-120 used to be pretty popular on AVS and had a reputation for having better SQ than the BIC F12. Here's a discussion thread on AVS and one at Blu-Ray Forum. I think it used to be possible to pick one up for $220 or so by making Acoustic Sound Design an offer (those threads would be able to tell you). Looks like the crossover goes up to 200hz:

Yeah it seems like that’s been the case with that sub for like 10-15 years?? That’s not close to saying they all are going to have a problem though. I dunno..
