I really like the ported subs I have. It is funny because the size of my enclosures turned out to be the right size for a tune of 7hz anyways.

Marantz 7702 Atmos
3 Inuke NU4-6000 amps for all speakers.
Speakers- 7 Behringer B215XL's, 4 212xl's for ceiling speakers.
Front subs 8 SI 18ht ported SLLT powered by Peavy IPR 7500
Rear subs 4 SI 18HT ported SLLT powered by Inuke 6000.

Attaboy. Like I've said repeatedly, we need to keep pushing the envelope until there's a fatality, then we'll back off from there.

Ok, changes are coming because I am bored and want to build something. I am building 4 10hz tuned UM18s for my rear subs powered with the IPR2 7500 and the front wall will get 4 more or the same 4 SI 18HTs. I will tune the wall to 10hz as well as it still gets me 5hz.

I love the UM-18s. Care to post lots of pics in this thread of the build/progress?

What made you decide on at particular amp?

First time working with the UM-18s?

Yes first time with the UM18. I have not ordered anything yet except my Jasper jig. I am going to actually build a proper box and not wall types of enclosures for the rear subs. 16 cubes per driver. I really like the Inuke amps as well.

Well I have two Cap4000ULF type subs already with my Si drivers but I want to make them bigger and much better braced. Ports and drivers will all be facing the seats. It will be a slot port as well. I will buy MDF from wherever see what happens. I know that my DTS-10s dug to 9hz with a 14-15hz tune so 10hz so be hitting 5hz in my closet, I mean room.

The only real common denominator between those two subs mentioned is that they are ULF ported 18s. The HT18s are great, but not so much if you only have 1 or 2 compared to the other 18s out there.

There is seriously a notable difference between my UM-18s and the HT18s in the same enclosure and I'm sure that difference is even greater with that Cap driver.

Either way, looking forward to this moving/upgrade your pursuing.

The UM-18 is more like a 28mm xmax driver and the Cap is 30mm. You can see the cap S2 results and minus 5 dB or so to get a Cap S1 vs the UM18 which would be about a dB at 10hz.

What I'm trying to say is that both of those drivers, the UM-18 and the Cap is just so much better than the HT18 and that you will be floored with the results upgrading to something like the UM-18

They measured similar on the low end with the extra x-max favoring above 30hz.

Marantz 7702 Atmos
3 Inuke NU4-6000 amps for all speakers.
Speakers- 7 Behringer B215XL's, 4 212xl's for ceiling speakers.

Impressed with the results.

The tactile difference between the UM-18s and the HT18s was most noticeable in my room.

I have the UM 18 and the SI HT 18 and both are great drivers. Just mate it with the right box!

It will be a 16 cubic foot box tuned at 10.9 hz in theory. It always works out lower in room. As long as I get 5 hz I am good. The enclosures the SIs are in s one big box and these will be 4 separate boxes per driver as it is easier to work with smaller boards in my small space. I am never too concerned with port velocity as I never run just one sub to xmax to matter. I should build one with the UM18 and the other with the SI and see what they can do.

While you're at it......

Why not replace your front HT18s with UM18s?

Would you benefit from that?

If you guys heard my room would be telling me I am nuts but we already know that. The front wall is built great and I don't need to change it, the rear subs were built crappy IMHO and just wanted to change that. I still want to build a speaker but after I watch a movie I say why bother. The little improvement I may get if any won't be worth the time and money. I have a $800 CD now that sounds great but not even enough to want to use it. I am hoping DIYSG comes out with a JBL 4722 clone but 18 inches wide for me to change.
