Room is sealed with three doors and no opening space, so I have narrowed it down to these subs.

HSU VTF 3 MK4 $800 shipped

HSU VTF 15H $1023 shipped

PSA VX15 $800 shipped

PSA XS30 $1150 shipped

I am thinking of going with one sub and nearfield placement to feel the impact, please let me know your thoughts. Ported or sealed sub for my place? just looking for tight and powerful bass to hit me.

I know I would be happy with any of the subs esp coming from Sony HITB sub which which still good lol smile.gif. I just need to decide if I should go with value $800 subs or spend some extra for $1000 plus subs.

If you didn't know, both of the Hsu's can be configured for either sealed or ported which gives you a lot of flexibility when setting up. I have my VTF-15H configured in the 16Hz tune: with one port open, EQ1 and Q=.7. Using the “Bass test extreme - best bass test in the world, frequencies from 5Hz to 60Hz (HQ)” by Sad Fantasy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTha0u_kIXc&list=FLWo_NU72Dop4aOUU8ViAglA) I’m able to hear/feel/sense something at about 10 Hz, but it’s at 13 Hz when things start to really move.

For kicks, if you haven’t seen this, check out the first 7 posts of “SHOOTOUT! Epik Empire vs HSU VTF-15H vs CHT CS18.1 vs Rythmik FV15 vs eD A7s-450” (http://www.avsforum.com/t/1313176/shootout-epik-empire-vs-hsu-vtf-15h-vs-cht-cs18-1-vs-rythmik-fv15-vs-ed-a7s-450). I which I could do stuff like this. rolleyes.gif

Hope this helps!

In the above post the Chase sub performed very well, The Chase VS 18.1 is stronger than the SS 18.1 and is vented. This is on sale for $600. This will really shake-up the room. http://www.chasehometheater.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=29&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=668&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=135

I am looking at the same subs that the OP listed (HSU VTF 3 MK4, HSU VTF 15H, PSA VX15, PSA XS30) or one of Rythmik's offerings. My room dimensions are 21.5' (l) x 14' (w) x 9' (h). The TV is on the back 21.5' wall and listening position is on the opposite' wall that has 11' of wall and remainder (10.5') is open to the rest of the first floor (probably another 750 sq ft). Any suggestions on the best sub (or pros and cons) for that area would be very helpful as well as if ported or sealed would give the best response. I am 85% movies/TV and 15% music. Thanks.
