I have a 3x5 meter condo living room (part of a larger open plan living/dining/kitchen) and was going to buy:
Amp: Denon 1713 or Onkyo 515
Speakers: All B&W 685
Sub: Boston Acoustics ASW250 or ASW650
I listened to the setup at a 3-meter distance to simulate the room. At first I did not think there was a difference between the two subs, though the salesman did not have any truly bass heavy files in his media player. He pointed out, though, that the 650 produces a deeper, more sophisticated bass that one can appreciate even if he does not plan to turn the volume all the way up in a smaller room. Listening again, I thought I heard what he was trying to point out.
Would you buy the 650 in this situation? Would there be any performance benefit in a relatively small space?
The store has a limited sub selection.
