Then, proceed to lift up one side of the Triax enough to remove the foam corners, rinse & repeat so you'll end up on the cardboard bottom. Then I'd be extra careful and try to slide it off the dolly using the cardboard as a ramp to help reduce the sharp drop. Then figure out how to get the cardboard from out under it.......at that point I'd try to lift it up onto one of the bottom corners and "walk" it off the cardboard but considering its weight versus yours that most likely won't happen.

So I say to just scrap that whole idea and find 1 or 2 other people to assist you.

Thanks for the suggestions. smile.gif

If your correct about the bottom foam sections being 4 separate pieces, that should make it easier. Also, looking closely at the corners of the bottom section of the box, it appears the corners are just taped. Perhaps I could simply remove the tape so the sub can just slide right off the cardboard.

There will be three of us, although we're a pitiful trio; 2 small guys and one with a bad back (he won't be doing any lifting). redface.gif

Are you gonna have furniture sliders? If so, may be able to lift it up enough to get them placed under the Triax after you have it on the ground but on top of the cardboard and then slide it off that way.

Nope, no Triax yet. That pic is one Reefdiver posted earlier of his Triax.

Yes, I do have furniture sliders and a furniture lifter I plan to use. That should work great if I can flatten the cardboard base.

The bird might help, it can alert you once the massive truck with the Triax is spotted in your area by communicating with the native birds. Unfortunately once you turn the Triax on they may all migrate south, away from the earthquakes! biggrin.gif

Do the drivers protrude from the face ? The three front baffles? Maybe with the new drivers? If they don't you can gently roll it onto a driver side. Like I said as long as it is recessed in the front baffle. I did that with my submersive, it's just fine wink.gif

Can one of you new Triax owners do me a big favor? Could you measure the length and width of the bottom part of the packing box? It appears in Reefdiver's pics that the bottom is the widest part of the box. I'm trying to determine it the box will fit through my front door.

Also, can you confirm in the bottom foam piece is in pieces like jarrect thought?

Thanks! smile.gif

Our Mexican Red Headed Amazon parrot is out of his cage and about two feet from me on the computer table, looking out the office window, slowly tearing up a pen shaft. He loves to chew up pen and pencil shafts and lets me know when people walk by on the street.

I would greatly appreciate those who received their Triax would share how the got it out of the bottom part of the packing/box, preferably without damaging the packing/box and of course the sub. I have a dolly I plan to use to get the Triax in the house and am trying to figure out how to get it out of the bottom of the box onto the dolly.
You just lift the sub out of the foam? I don't think there is any other way to do it. That is what I did. I actually took the top foam, put it on the dolly. Then I lifted the sub out of the box and placed it atop the foam on the dolly and pushed. I am telling you now, it is not easy. Be ready to lift and lift hard. My son made me laugh because I have always told him, when the job gets tough, just get mad and that is what he did when we were lifting this tank. He was yelling like a weightlifter does on a big lift. I almost dropped it at one point, I mean I had a kid helping me and also it is just so awkward to hold. Just make sure you are in sync with the other mover, slow steps. You just gotta dig in and get mad mad.gif

Furniture straps would be great if you had them. I don't and I would not spend the money for them for a small move like this. But yeah, furniture straps would make moving the triax a breeze. Even more so since of the awkwardness of this thing.

Rope looped at the ends for handholds with kitchen towels placed where the rope meets the subwoofers so the corners are not damaged, for a one off event, will work.

Thanks for the feedback. smile.gif

I'm hoping to figure out a way to avoid dead lifting the thing. My "crew" (I have two volunteers to help) consists of two lightweights (me included) and one with a bad back. redface.gif If we were to drop it I think I would have a heart attack on the spot!

Can you tell me if the bottom foam that it sits in is multiple pieces like jarrect thought, or is it one piece?

EDIT: Jim Farina sent me some info; there are two foam pieces on the top, and two on the bottom. Also, the bottom corners of the box are just taped. Cut the tape and the box will lay flat. So I shouldn't have to dead lift the sub to get it out of the box.....yea!

Good news!

Tom sent me an email letting me know that my Triax has been assembled and is going through QC today. He sent a pic of my Triax as well.

Here's hoping it passes QC with flying colors and is on its way soon!

BTW, this is the last of the first round. I just squeaked in under the wire!

What is the trade in deal Tom offered? I was hoping for a bunch of XV15s and XV30s to pop up in the classifieds, but no luck.

They've been popping up but they typically sell within minutes of him announcing. I do think there are some XV30s still available I think not sure though.

He gave me a full credit for my XV30F and I think you could only get that if you did the trade in.

Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten near that price plus I would have had to convince the buyer to pay $200+ to ship it.

They already have come and gone...Tom bought back most subs under the trade in promotion and sold them as B-stock. They sold faster then he could list them.

Wow, Tom really did a crazy deal on the trade ins. Gives a person a lot of faith in his business practices. Plus +1 in my book when I look to do business with someone.

Yea no doubt...Tom offered full retail trade in, plus 2799.00 shipped preorder price, then upgraded the drivers at no extra cost. Thats setting a new standard in customer support imo.
