See that kind of info helps, I haven't kept up on the Jtr thread so I'm kinda starting fresh. My only worry is one of 2 things would happen with 228s.

1# I get them, they sound awesome, I'm happy and content, or....
2# I get them, they sound awesome, then......I wonder..... How much better would the 212s have been? biggrin.gif
See if it's not a day and night difference then I'd be fine with 228s, but if it is a great difference then I might bite the bullet and go for the big boys. It's hard to decide

When I get a chance I'll send you a pm with my thoughts. We should try to keep all this JTR talk out of the Triax thread!.......

As far as the money, well I do work real hard for it and I'm trying not to make dumb choices like before. So talking to you and people here and giving myself a few weeks time should help me complete my setup beyond what I thought I'd have. It be nice to not spend more than I have to but also since it'd be a last move on this setup I want to feel safe.

I'm tempted smile.gif

Not sure I need it, but I hate odd numbers. Especially for subs smile.gif

3 - JTR 228's LCR (game room)
4 - DIY Sound Group V-8 Coaxials in slanted boxes (game room)
4 - PSA Triax's (game room)
3 - DIY Sound Group V-8 Coaxials in Ported Boxes for LCR's
2 - SVS SB13+'s (living room)
1 - SVS SB12-NSD (bedroom)

Haha I knew you'd probably be a legend one day, the man who fought to keep the walls from falling! If I had 3 then I'd be real tempted too, I'll bet its a hard choice to make! 1,000 lbs of sub, 12-15in monstrous drivers and 16,000 watts rms all on tap, that would be a site to see!

If i didnt have a plan to save money then I would just keep buying until everything falls apart. One thing that i never did especially in my younger days is save, or have credit so now thats the 2 things i have planned for 2014. Boring plans but hey, ill still have fun with my current setup just to kill time. Yeah if this was me a few years ago id probably buy a bunch of triaxes then blow all the circuit breakers in my house and then say, oh i need more power. biggrin.gif

well it seems as though you have a very good plan. Buy now cause you can (best move since you never know what can happen in the future) and then save while you are fully enjoying your setup. It will make it much easier tosave since "staying in" will be awesome watching movies etc.

As far as you JTR's me personally would go for the best. I HATE the what if's and it will just end up costing you more money in the long run...I wish I had the means from the get go...but oh well.

I must say it IS fun watching your purchases and enjoyment. smile.gif

Lol! I love HT stuff! You can tell im used to the crazy, fast life in the big city, seeing things that most would see in movies. Now after all those years i end up in the middle of nowhere raising my sister. Its so funny because now ive been here a year and the only thing to do is stay home and fire up the system. We dont go out and the only thing there is here is some bars and thats it, so its totally boring but i like being away from all the crazyness. People here wouldnt know what any of this stuff im buying is, theyd probably think its alien technology lol. For now my only enjoyment is watching this house turn to rubble. biggrin.gif

It's funny when you realize, you probably have the best Home Theater system within a hundred or more miles from where you're at.

I remember when the managers from the only best buy here came over and said i probably have the best setup in wyoming, i was flattered but that was before the triaxes, the denon 4520ci and 3313udci and that doesnt include my final move so hopefully theyll be floored when they come see it in the end. Its the least populated state so theres not much here other than the oil boom. My job sucks because of how dangerous it is, i never know what day ill make it home, but it is a good living and keeps me focused on life. Having a good setup is all i ask because with that i can have plenty of fun at home when im not working so its awesome. I never knew HT was this much fun and complex, its challenging and interesting.

Nice on the compliment from Best Buy management. Also, the hobby keeps one a bachelor because they can't afford a date. tongue.gif

(sorry honey, unless you can play the crash scene from FOTP through those things, I'm not interested)

No girl is taking my system from me, i wont fall for that! One nice girl i met tried to act all into me but i sensed something sneaky so i havent answered here back anyomore lol. If it was before I would have givin in but I guess I really have made a breakthrough lol. Still though im not going to grow old alone, if i do then atleast my Triaxes will talk to me, probably will talk loud but atleast ill still hear them.

Finally traded in my XV30s today. Was sad to see them go. The Triax is much smaller compared to 2 of them... hate to say it but I may have went too big with them. But the Triax is much denser e.g. heavier. Electrician won't be here till Wednesday to install the 220v circuit so this baby will have to sit for a few more days smile.gif

Big thanks to Tom V for the trade-in. Looking forward to testing this puppy out!

Your remorse won't begin until you realize how, to smooth out the room response, you need two Triax subwoofers.

(i wish I could afford two Triax subwoofers with an eye on a third)

Aaaaaah, the realities of life. We'll look forward to your comments.

Well, there's only 1 chair - mine. So less worried about smoothing the response for now. Maybe a second Triax in the future smile.gif But placement options are fairly limited if I want to use a corner.

Youll love the Triax! Im excited about getting my 2nd one, i have no idea where ill end up placing it but im going to spend time figuring out the best place. So far the first one has def brought alot to the table. Cant wait to hear your response, how bigs your room?

Unfortunately pretty large since it's an open basement area. Probably 5500-6000 cu/ft. Only one corner too, but I'm kind of afraid to set it there because that's where the water main and electrical panel are. Attaching a picture, let me know what you guys think smile.gif

On the west wall, since it's just sheetrock, I did not seem to get much boundary reinforcement setting the XV30s on that wall. Best bass ended up being on the south wall. I can flip the screen to where the screen is on the east wall, and use that corner in the SE.

Decisions, decisions.....

Looks similar to my room in my basement, i see that corner would be your best bet. Not sure about the water lines and what not but for example when i have my triax beating hard it shakes the other walls more opposite of where it is in the corner. Plus im sure theres all kinds of lines and stuff behind peoples drywall in normal rooms where their subs are so i never have heard that as being a problem because nondirectional subs spread out anyways. The only thing thats about to fall apart are my ceiling lamps and theyre screwed on tight to brackets eek.gif
