Pretty simple, looking for a subwoofer for around $300 for new satellite speaker system. Only requirement that I know of is for sub to get up to 200hz. Speaker set is CA Minx 21s and room is roughly 20x16 ft, if that helps. Thanks for your attention and help.

This thread is dedicated to exactly that. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1396482/budget-subwoofers-discussions-opinions-and-questions-thread ...you might want to work your way backwards since many of the subs discussed at the beginning are no longer available.

Hey thanks. I found that already and have been looking through it but wasn't sure if the 200hz requirement is hard to come by or pretty standard. I was hoping for some suggestions rather than searching through tech specs of hundreds of subs.

Well, if you are going to be lazy, lol...this is probably the best you can do within your requirements. http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-F12-475-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B0015A8Y5M

F12 is an awesome sub. I'd buy it from acousticsounddesign. $199. Free shipping no tax

Onkyo TXSR607, Mythos 8 Center, Studio Monitor 350's, Klipsch S-10 surrounds, Bic F12 sub

Epson Home Cinema 8100 Projector

I've heard a lot of people liking the nxg bas-500. Not sure how much in the 100hz-200hz range is. But from what I gather it's the best under $300 sub right now.

upper limit of 120hz on that one...not a lot of good budget options other than the F12 will both go below 30hz and up to 200hz.

If youre happy with that Minx 2.1 system youll be happy with an F12. What happened to the sub that came with it?

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

I'm buying the entire set piece-meal. Didn't want the Minx setup because I felt like I could get better sub and receiver on my own instead of sticking with CA products. Any thoughts on the PL-200. Everything I find says it out performs the F12 for a nominal increase in price. Thoughts?

The PL will outperform the F12.

The PL-200 is almost $100 more and while it play about 5hz lower than the F12, its main advantage is that it has higher output, but matching with those speakers the extra output would be wasted...that is why I suggested you save $100 and get the F12

Very good guys. I truly appreciate the candid responses. Think I'm going to give the 200 a try even though it's more expensive, it's higher output will put less stress on the unit to fill the room which leads me to believe the sound would be more pure. Also allows for a bit more flexibility for future HT upgrades.

I think that's a good strategy. I have seen people that have heard both the BIC PL-200 and the BIC F12 describe the PL-200 as having better SQ.
