Hope everyone is doing well! I just moved into my new house and the basement is a man cave dream come true.

800-900sqft of open space and I have the theater already set up!

Mitsubishi HC4900 paired with a 100inch screen. SVS-SCS-01's across the front with SBS-01s as surrounds, and a PB-13Ultra as my boom box. All dialed in to a nice 75db.

Last night I watched IRONMAN 3 as my first movie in the new space and wow did it sound amazing....except one aspect....the bass. It was there, but my rumbling boom was sort of gone.

The room is large and open, volume probably pushing 4500cu ft, and my subwoofer placement is along the wall where the screen is, but unfortunately I have no real corner near. Also, my seating is 10.5ft from the screen, but the couch is no where near the back wall, thus we are kind of sitting in the middle of the room...

I plan to get home and get out Room EQ Wizard and try to figure out what is going on....but I fear the problem might be the sheer volume of the room, and what my expectations are for the sub.

Right now it is dialed in at 75db, gain is at about 1/4 of the way up, phase at 0.

We'll see...I'll report back....but in the meantime...does anyone else have this sub in a room this size and shape? Thoughts, Comments, Suggestions

If I am looking at this correctly, your seating position is pretty much in the middle of the room?

Is this a bash amp PB?

The PB13 should have no problems in that size room (unless you're a real bass head smile.gif )

You might have to do a sub crawl as well as the REW.

One other factor is Ironman 3 doesn't have much output below 30hz, so you can't expect a lot of low frequency rumbling.

I see that too, looks to be at or close to the center of the room and that would be problematic....

bjillyjcu,

Are you able to move that sofa to see if it improves your boom?

I did a quick search for "null in middle of room"

This is one thread I found, but there are others:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1164907/sub-is-void-in-middle-of-the-room.

Unfortunately, the better seating position would probably be about where the pool table is.

If you have no other options, you may want to go with a wireless adapter and put the sub near field (like an end table of one side of the sofa).

Unfortunately I can move the seating position. REW helped a lot, and I moved the sub a bit and used my 1124 and things are much improved. I am a bass head, coming from a theater 1/5 the size. I will enjoy what I have for now and get another pb13 hopefully in the next year.

Hey Brad, been a long time. I don't get here as much as I used to now that I have my own business. Well, you know my recommendation to solve large-space sub issues. Near field placement. You called the room a man cave, so function over form should rule.smile.gif
