I was doing some research on a budget subwoofer and have pretty much decided on the bic pl200 when it goes on sale for about 280$. However I've came across some discussions that the lava lsp12 is comparable to it but the price seems too good to be true!(only bic f12 territory price!)

Did I just happen to stumble upon an awesome sale price or do they usually go for that price ?

Am I better off with this one or should I wait on the pl200?

Well, I would assume that you would have to pay the return shipping if you did not want to keep it, but If I was looking for a budget sub, I would definately try it out for that price.

Isn't the Dayton 15" $200-220 shipped? It's a known quantity, at least.

I got burned by return shipping on a refurb flooring saw. It's deck height could not accommodate actual floorboards, only "flooring" boards, so it is utterly useless to me. I discovered return shipping would be roughly half the cost of the thing, so I opted to re-sell it locally.

TL;DR: I don't advise risking $50 or so in return shipping to test a $170 sub without a strong base of reviews.

There are reviews on this sub at Audioholics and Hometheatershack to name just a couple. Lava isn't exactly an unknown company. Pretty sure Dayton isn't going to give you a 5/5 warranty.

Yeah. At one time, there were some people that liked the Lava LSP12 there and at blu-ray forum when it cost around $300. I thought about buying one. I think the BIC PL-200 is likely a better sub, but for $170? If that includes shipping, that's cheaper than the BIC F12. Looks like it would be a good deal to me as long as someone isn't looking for <30hz output.

Here's an interesting point of comparison between the BIC PL-200 and the Lava LSP12. The driver in the Lava sub appears to be much heavier duty if weight counts for anything.

Better might depend on what you are looking for. The Lava is fantastic with music considering that it is a ported budget sub and while deep bass extension is not that great, neither is the PL200s. I actually found that the Lava sounded tighter with music than the Klipsch RW12-D though was no match in deep bass extension.

At $170 the Lava thread should become more busy this holiday season

$100 was my budget and the room is 20x20. I know there is no way the budget is going to match up with the dimensions but i'll take the best possible solution. I'm pretty sure DIY is the best way to go here but i'm entertaining all options

To those that bought: have you gotten a shipping notification? I bought one last Sunday and other than an order confirmation, I haven't received any shipping information.

The Dayton Audio Sub1200 from Parts Express is on sale for $109 and gets great reviews for its price. I just ordered its new big brother, the sub1500 for $199. If i like it , i'll be ordering a second one

I'm interested in this sub as well, and at this price they are showing free shipping even to Canada which is a plus for me.

Wondering if you or anyone else in this thread jumped on one of these, and what their impression of them was?

Douce

Yeah sorry, at the time I was going through pretty much every thread that came up from a search for LSP12's and this was the first thread returned in the search.

I have since made my way to that thread and read probably 20 pages of it.

Needless to say, that has pretty much made up my mind, just in discussions with customer service at the moment about shipping.

Regards,

Douce
