I owned the original 1999 VTF-2 sub and I loved it. I have not owned another sub since it died. Does anyone know how the current VTF-2 MK4 compares to the original? Were there only minor improvements, or is there a big difference in design and performance?

I don't know all the specifics but I would think it is MUCH improved.

I had the vtf2 mk3 and it was a good sub. I sold it to my friend for $350 and he is absolutely amazed how it shakes his room with good bass. I see him occasionally and he keeps smiling and tell me it is the best sub he owns and the best $350 he ever spent. Back in 1999, HSU and SVS were the two ID sub companies that drew lots of attention. They still do but there are more choices now: Outlaw, PSA, Rythmik, Chase, JTR, Submersive, etc... Just saying.

The VTF2 mk4 is a big step up from the original VTF2. The new VTF2 is using a much improved and bigger driver, larger enclosure, more powerful amp with more features. It will get louder, go deeper, and stay cleaner than the original VTF2. As I understand it, the later VTF2s are more like the earlier VTF3s.

Hi there,

ShadyJ is correct. The VTF-2 original is more closer in performance to the VTF-1 Mk2, though I would still say that the VTF-1 Mk2 is still superior and would be able to play a bit louder.
