Long story short. My wife ordered a purse. And it just came in today. After we had made an agreement. I would stop buying home theater equipment. She would stop buying purses. So now I'm just flat out pissed. And decided I want 2 psa xv15. To replace my dual outlaw sub. My question is about the base of the sub for an extra $100. Does it make a difference in sound? Or can I use my existing gramma pad from my outlaw sub? Are they both pretty much the same thing?
what outlaw subs do you currently have? if they are the EX, that might be more of a lateral move (and then you should just keep them and use all 4 subs
). the base shouldn't make any difference, other than looks.
They are both lfm-ex model. Sorry forgot to add that part. You honestly think its a lateral then a step up? Cause xv15 is 500 watts rms versus lfm-ex 350 watts rms
I just received my XV15 today and its incredible! You will love running dual XV15s. I had the same question about the base so I emailed Tom at PSA asking about it. He responded that there is no difference in the performance between the sub with the base and the one without. He also said the sub without the base is more popular. It is $100 less and 15 lbs lighter.

Yep. The XV-15 would give you a little more bass at 16hz, but I would wonder whether or not the extra dbs above that would help you much. Might just be an incremental move upward.

There have been a couple members that went from LFM-1 EX subs to XV15's and said they were a upgrade. Also the data-bass numbers are off slightly for the XV15 due to how the mic was placed during testing. The Outlaw was laid on its side with the drive facing the mic, the XV15 had a base plate that was not removed for testing. That being said I do not think it would be worth the coin to upgrade from the EX's. Those are pretty solid subs and unless you constantly are reaching thier limits, I dont think you would notice the few extra db the XV15 offers. I would be looking at a Pair of Rythmik FV15HP's.
No the FV15HP has more output in the 12-20hz range. The Submersive would have more above 30hz. The FV15HP is real beast for the money. 10hz in room extension with gobs of output. The SubM might have better sound quality since it gets rave reviews at the GTG's.
Yea I would say it has more @ 10hz and below being you can get good room gain, but comparing dual FV15HP's to a single SubM, It would be hard to say. If I had the choice I would take dual Rythmiks...Imo they are insane subs for the money. If Rythmik had a downfiring version(not the D15) I would have to sell my PSA subs.

I figure if I ever buy another sub, it's going to be one where I never want to upgrade again other than eventually having duals, and the Seaton would be that one, even if I could only start with one.
Can you imagine how it is for guys who not only like to upgrade/buy subs, but also like to build subs! It adds another dimension, and one that can’t be slain with any option known to man. It's fun though..
I know I'm upgrading my subs to be even with my wife. But since this is out of my own pocket. Cause my wife is a stay at home mom. I don't want to go out and blow a huge chunk of change. It's a free pass with limits.
