Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone had any information on this sub. I was planning on purchasing 2 of them for my home theater, however, every supplier seems to be sold out. Is NXG not producing them anymore, or are they planning a successor? Any information would be great, particularly if anyone knows where some might still be available.

Thanks in advance!

I can't provide a link, but somebody posted that they had sold out their original shipment due to the unpredicted demand, and they are hoping to get a shipment by sometime December or so.

Hi Steve,

Not sure what I am supposed to be looking for here, I found the Bas 500 discussion by theJman, but it only really had a discussion on the capabilities of the sub and not the lack of product.

Thanks Ermghoti, its good to hear they might be producing more, I was dumbfounded when they weren't available, as they had only been out for about half a year.

Yeah sorry about that, I thought you were looking for a review. I did find this but you might already have it? From what I can tell the 10” is available but the 15” isn't at this time, well at RadioShack anyway. Maybe one of the others? Anyway here you go.. http://www.nxgtechnology.com/buy_web.html I'll go over to the Shack and let Jim/theJman know you're looking for help.. maybe he know's something?

The Internet got ahold of them, became a phenomenon. No way a "little guy" like that could assume the word of mouth would take off, and they sold all they had contracted for. Slings and arrows of the sales biz. Hopefully they don't get burned on the re-order with QC issues, or find the Internet's fickle attention span has shifted, that is a nice little resource to have on tap.

Definitely caught my attention! Glad to see a quality product caused such a buzz, but which they would make an announcement or something though. My attention isn't "fickle" but I also don't want to wait around if there is no hope of getting one. I would love to see the company do well. I tested out some of their in-ceiling speakers and they were also top notch.

As the others have mentioned, NXG has indeed sold out of their current production run. The sub was very well received, and it appears they underestimated demand. Based upon product and transit times December might be a bit optimistic though. My guess would be January -- if not a little longer -- before they have additional stock.

Jim,
Have you received an update as to when/where the NX-BAS-500 might be available?
Thanks!
Bill

NXG hasn't confided in me when they anticipate the next batch of BAS 500's to hit our shores, so unfortunately I don't have a date to provide you. Their initial projections were for January, but knowing how long it takes to get new products from overseas I suspect that might be a bit optimistic. You may be able to get a more accurate timeframe by contacting their support team. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Thanks for the update! Hopefully this is true, still waiting to get my hands on a couple of these. My current subs are some 50watt ones that I got for free and are badly in need of replacement.

Hey Jim....

Firstly...thanks for your Budget SUB thread...Awesome for an ignorant newb like me to learn! Secondly....I got that from Provantage/PCNAtion and etc...Many of the sites actually let you check their stock availability and many are saying March 20; not March 14th.....so I take your word but lets hope they don't rush subpar subs in the hurry to meet exceeded demand.

I have to get a sub for the Super Bowl and can't wait and with small footprint/big cuft issues demands may have to step up to a SVS SC12 or etc...See my thread "Stuck in a corner........" if you have time and please opine as I do so appreciate your advice as well as the forum members.

Bear in mind I migrated from a $200 Sony soundbar and woofer to a L/C/R small KEF(HTS 6001's) pushed by a Yamaha 673 as they are the only that would fir and pass the WAF...so I don't need a SUB to Knock the Plasma over and over whelm the KEFs and make my dogs pee the floor. eek:

Thanks again for your input-I read your reviews often and do enjoy them:)

Cheers!

Greg:)

PS...Sub placement is to be behind TV or where Plant is standing.

I personally feel that NXG has a winner on their hand, and like you I hope they didn't rush anything either. The subs that are set to arrive in CA shortly probably left China a month ago though, so perhaps they were able to get them built at a "normal" pace.

I'm not familair with the SC12. Is that a typo perhaps? If you can provide me with a link to your other thread I'll take a look.

Jim...

My mistake.....on the SVS sub #

Senior moment....eek.gif

http://www.svsound.com/subwoofers/cylinder/pc12-nsd

Or perhaps a SVS SB-1000 or 2000. I chose the upwards ported cylinder as not to mess with my small KEF HTS 6001's mid range.....The "Merlin Program on SVS said SB-1000 for the KEFs:confused:

I like budget but service b4 and after the sale is important.

The SVS PC12 will cost nearly as much as the three KEFs I got on discount(80 % off) +the 673 Yamaha so the WAF is not high on that.

What a conundrum..."Go big and sleep on the couch"

Thanks!

Greg

PS...empirically...will behind the TV distort the KEF's worse than out front along the wall 4' i8n front of the Left KEF; regardless of brand or model? (see above picture) Placement is a real PITA here.
