Hi all .. So some time ago I decided on getting dual PSA XV15 for my new 18 x 22 feet HT room .. The total price was $1518, which was expensive, but acceptable to me ..

Problem is that PSA guys have experiencing delays on their side, and they say delivery can take 1-2 weeks from now, and I can't wait that long ..

So please suggest some other dual subs which I can get instead, in roughly the same price range ..

And as I've said in my other threads, I like subs which have give maximum 'impact' .. smile.gif

PS12-NSD is an obvious choice, but I feel it might be inferior to XV15's .. Would that be the case ?

yes it IS the case...the pb12 is not up to the xv15, but there are other choices out there for you if you are not willing to wait,

what is your maximum budget for duals?

Panasonic 65VT30 | Panasonic AE8000 HD PJ | Denon x4100 ATMOS 5.2.4| Emotiva XPA-5 | PSA MT110 x 3 FL/C/FR | PSB B4's | DUAL PSA XS30 | OPPO 103 | minidsp | Buttkicker LFE

If you really can't wait and want maximum impact for your money you have a few choices.

1. Chase Home Theater - CraigSUB SS18.1; this is a passive 18" sub for around $600 shipped. However, you'll need an amp, which you can buy from Chase. They have 2 choices, a $400 one and a $600 one. Either amp can drive multiple subs.
2. HSU - VTF3MK4; HSU is a very well respected company. And honestly for $629 this sub is damn hard to beat. You'll pay for shipping but your cost will be similar to the XV15 if you get two. Output will be a little less...but this is a damn fine sub.
3. Rythmik - FV15HP; this is just a killer sub. You would have to be willing to either add $1000 now or plan on adding another down the road. Simply put this sub is a BEAST!
4. PSA - XV30 or XV30f - another option. Add another later or grow the budget and get 2.

The XV15 was reviewed on data-base:
http://www.data-bass.com/data?page=system&id=88&mset=95

If you go to the Measurements page and the Comparable Charts tab, you can compare the XV15 to other subs that have been reviewed. An inexpensive competitor that measures fairly close to the PSA is Outlaw's LFM-1 EX in one port mode. Outlaw is currently selling the EX for $599 delivered on their Black Friday sale page. I don't know how quickly they can ship them however.

Won't the OP have to wait 1-2 weeks for most of the options listed? That seems like a really fast turn around to me. Only option for faster is B&M stores.

Shouldn't. The Rythmik is on back order, but everything else is in stock. Might take a few days to get to his house.

The Outlaw is another option....it's made for them by HSU and is similar to the VTF3. However, I don't think it can match the VTF3 in sound quality. That being said, $599 shipped is an awesome deal. If you go Outlaw, better jump now before they sell out.

HSU VTF-3 is on sale and would be a close match up. Basically you put in 1 port mode to match the ultra low bass of the XV15. The Outlaw would be another good choice for the price. bear in mind, a forum member who has owned both the EX and XV15 said the EX sounded like it was going to fall apart when pushed to its limits, The XV15 maintained better composure. So depending on your listening levels that may be important.

I vote for dual EX's if you can't wait for the dual XV-15's. OR you could do 3 LFM-1 Plus's for $1497 shipped.

Looking only at the wattage power, isn't the PB12-NSD slightly more powerful than the VTF3MK4 ? 400W v.s. 350W ?

I'd really like to just get 2 subs now, and would prefer a result similar to the XV15 .. Even though I haven't actually heard/felt any of these subs, a lot of people praise the XV15's, which is why I'm inclined to that ..

Since XV15's are not an option, and since I can't wait (out of my hands really), I have to get something else ..

Would increasing the max budget for dual subs shipped to $2000 bring forth a better match for XV15 ?

Not sure why you can't wait for dual XV15s, but since you can't and if you can boost your budget just a little bit more - to $2,183.10 incl. shipping - dual XS30s would be a good option.

Dual XS30's would be sweet. However they will be down in the 15-20hz area to the XV15 but will have more output below 15hz and a significant amount above 30hz. Being the OP room is longer then 20ft, there is not going to be alot of room gain. I would probably go with a pair of HSU VTF-15's on a 2k budget.

Wattage is only one factor. The PB12-NSD has the flattest response and best build quality of subs in its price range, but others like Outlaw, HSU, and PSA have it beat when it comes to output particularly above 30hz. The Outlaw at $599 shipped is tough to beat so if you can't wait for the XV15, I would go with dual Outlaw.

+1 - that would be a nice setup.

Did you call Tom and Jim from PSA and confirm this for yourself?

There were delays for the Triax, but I did not hear anything for the XV-15

Just a word of advise, most good ID companies build speakers to the order, so most are a 2 to 4 week wait

That's a sad situation. My XV15 shipped the day after I placed my order, that was only two weeks ago so this delay must be a recent development.

Well, If you absolutely can't wait for whatever reason then my vote would be for the dual Hsu VTF-15. After that I would go with dual Outlaw EX and after that dual SVS PB12-NSD.

Or….. you could say forget the budget and get dual FV15HPs!

SVS has dual PB12NSDs on sale for $1299 shipped. This is a great deal! Unless you listened to a pair of XV-15s in the same room you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Plus the SVS has a flatter response. To me that means easier setup.

Give them a call. They usually ship out in a day or two.

If you need a sub right now, I would go for VTF3 mk4s. They are at pretty hefty discount at the moment, and Hsu always ships very swiftly. The Outlaw is a great sub and about as powerful, but they may be getting bombarded with orders at the moment. It's worth calling them or emailing them to find out though.

The wait for DELIVERY is 1-2 weeks? If you order any subwoofer right now, your wait WILL be 1-2 weeks unless you live near a warehouse were you can do local pick up.

Is the VTF3 worth $128 more than the Outlaw at the moment ? I am also considering LV12R. Which one would play loudest and give me the best ULF ? I am filling a 2900 ft^3 room.
