Hi,

I recently Bought a pair of Kef Fivetwo Series model7 speakers from NewEgg.  I also got a Denon X1000 Receiver.

The Kef speakers have a Frequency response 100Hz - 30kHz.

I am confused on what Sub I need to buy for this. I ran out of Budget and so cannot buy an expensive Sub. I am considering between a Polk Audio PSW10  (100W , 35 to 200Hz)  Vs a used Klipsch Sub 10 Powered Subwoofer (200W , 28 to 120Hz).

I am a newbie and am not really sure what would be my best choice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

G

I would not buy either of them. Do without a sub until you have at least 200.00-300.00 to spend as there are MUCH better choices in that price range.
Either one of the subs you listed will be a major disappointment. I assume that the KEF are a satellite speaker system from what I saw on Newegg, so buying a decent sub is even more important than if you had bought a speaker system with full towers.

Thanks for the response. I think I would wait until I can get some more cash. Can you please recommend some good subs in the 200-300 range?

Is this one a good Sub -  Definitive Technology Prosub 1000 Subwoofer ?

Thanks

Here is one that currently is in the under 200.00 range. There is a large thread on this sub here at Avsforums, and is considered a good bang for the buck.

http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-F12-475-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B0015A8Y5M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386442929&sr=8-1&keywords=bic+f-12+subwoofer.

I do have one of these in a smaller room so I can say they are a pretty good buy for the price.

There is also a couple of large threads in the Subwoofer forum about budget subwoofers:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1364182/list-of-budget-subwoofers-300-and-less

I'm showing that DefTech sub you mentioned as 499.00 on Amazon. I think there are much better options at that price.

You have not given us any details on what size room and are you using this for music or movies.

There are also some "kit" options at Parts Express that might be of interest. (Shady, where are you?)

Agree about the DefTech; at $499, the SVS PB-1000 is a far better option.

Hi,

I was asking about the Deftec because there is a listing in my local Craigslist selling it for 200$. I am wondering if it would be a good buy for 200$?

As for my room size it is about 10x12 feet.

Thanks

IMO, get a pair of Dayton SUB-1200 subs ($109/ea., shipped). Well-rated, well-priced...and new w/ warranty.

Another option is the newer Dayton SUB-1500 ($199, shipped).

I would get the SVS PB 1000. Free shipping and 45 days to test the sub in your home. Great customer service and rated as the best sub under $500 in many, many reviews.
