I have a couple days left to return my PB2000's. Not sure what I'm going to do they sounded good, then I ran MCACC and they sound like crap. I'm running Pioneer VSX-1123 and have set the trim to +3, speaker level to 0 and I'm running the subs at 3 o'clock. The bass that I do get sounds muddled, was never able to get that chest pounding people were talking about

So the PC2000 ship date got pushed back from early December to mid December. Had to cancel my order since ill be out of town and decided that the SB2000 has to go back. It is not a right fit for my space, i'll likely order the PC2000 in January - maybe they'll be some reviews by then too.

Why do you want them a foot shorter, SVS must have wanted them that tall for a reason. And does it really matter what your wife says? She has her loves you have yours. She should just be thankful your love is still in the house, and not another woman. lol

I have a question for you guys. Does SVS ever have sales? I'd like to get the SB-2000 (I especially love the metal grill feature) but $699 is a tad above my price range. I'd prefer to cap out at $499 shipped. I didn't see anything for black friday and I'm starting to lose hope.

If getting it on sale is out of the question, what else is comparable or what would you recommend as the best I could get for $499?

I went ahead and ordered the pc2000 today. I'll be sending the sb2000 back. It should ship out tomorrow. Can't wait- I hope it blends in - I can't really picture how it's going to look in my living room. Seeing as my room dimension are 10x15x12 I'm hoping the pc2000 gives me the impact the sb2000 lacked. I will say the sb2000 was a very nice sub though- the gloss piano black was very sexy- I got the pc2000 in gloss as well

Hey all,

Just got my PB-2000, like it so far but I'm confident its not optimized.

For a corner placement, should it literally be as close to the wall as possible? Mine is probably a foot or so out on both sides.

Also, and ideas where I should set hte cross over? I have Martin Logan ESL fronts which have 8" drivers. Audessy puts them at "full band" and it sounds like SVS is recommending 60ish hz.

Thanks!

60hz sounds right but set the speakers to small anyway, you might like that better. Try running REW to see if you placed it right.

I have Polk Audio and it set my speakers at 40HZ and it sounded harsh. 80HZ was the sweet spot for me.

I'm hopefully picking up a used PB-2000 tomorrow which I plan on pairing with my existing Velodyne DPS-12.

Any suggestions for blending 2 non-matching subs? The Velodyne will have less output (400w peak and 200w RMS I believe). Or should I just use the SVS and forget about pairing with the Velodyne?

Placement is somewhat flexible, I can go both subs on the front wall or opposite corners. My room is approx. 2,700 cu. ft. with no openings.
I will be using Audyssey XT32 for setup.

Please don't suggest getting matching subs as it's not an option for me at this time, Thanks.

My speakers may push out wider if and when I upgrade to a CIH screen.

If you the ability to perform measurements (REW + microphone, etc) I would suggest testing to see if the two subs will play together. If the phase response of one sub varies from that of the other, you will never get them to combine perfectly, for instance if they are in phase at 80Hz, they may be out of phase at 40Hz - and will therefore be 'fighting each other'.
If they stay in-phase with each other, great you can then experiment with placement to get the smoothest response at the listening position, or to counteract room modes.
I think you will find that the SVS will overpower the Velodyne, but the Velodyne may be able to reinforce the SVS to aid overall response (if they work together)
You may have to be careful not to overdrive the Velodyne in trying to match the SVS output, try to have the Velodyne closer to the listening position (more output).
Regards, Mike.

Thanks Mike.
Unfortunately I do not have any measuring equipment but I placed the subs in the front corners and set the SVS to 0 phase and the Velodyne to 180.

I used Audyssey to level match the 2 at 77db. My AVR set the SVS to -2.5db and the Velo to -2.0db

Surprisingly the Velodyne was definitely louder in the mid bass but then the SVS completely took over on the lower frequencies.

I wasn't getting the room shaking bass I was looking for so I increased sub levels in the AVR to 0.0db.
Still wasn't enough so I dialed the volume on both subs up to approx. 90db (3:00 position on the SVS). That made the room shake.

Then I decided to try the Velodyne in the back corner opposite of the SVS. Whoa! Now I have the shelves upstairs shaking and the kitchen table vibrating!
I could hear the Velo a bit too much being a fair bit closer to my MLP now so I dialed it down to around 85db.

I still have to rerun Audyssey as I didn't bother taking the time to do it again but right now I feel I have the 2 subs pretty well blended, smoother bass and a lot more output.

I'm 99% movies

Almost too much bass now?

I popped in Flight of the Phoenix last night and wow does it have an insane amount of LFE.

Here's an awesome text from my wife that came during the plane crash scene,

Wife: "U should rewind and come feel what it feels like up here"
Wife: "I'm serious"
Me: "There's a huge storm"
Wife: "U think?"
Wife: "I think the studs are all shaking loose in this wall"

Hahaha lol. I did dial it down a tad, but good times.

So anyone have a pc-2000 they've reviewed yet?

I just ordered one, not sure if they shipped out earlier to people than date listed on the website.
