Thanks, Dom.

Approximately, what volume levels would I need to listen to make this (dual HSU STF-2 to dual SVS PB-2000) a good upgrade?

The same volume levels at which the distortion becomes perceptible to the listener.

Plus I can't really hear/feel any difference between the 2 subs.
Hello,
I' just received my PB 2000 and I have the same issue...
Could you update your thread to say if it was an amp issue ?

Thanks and regards

I think my amp is going out also. When I run Audassy the mic can not heard my sub at the 12 o'clock position. Audassy asks me to level match and I have to turn the sub volume full blast and still can't get it to 75db. The loudest it will register is 68db. Has anyone else had this problem?

If you have a subwoofer in a lousy spot in your room, you'll have to increase the gain more so than a good location or perhaps a corner to achieve the same dB.

Sounds like what happened to my SB-1000. At first it hurt my ears, then I couldn't get much output even turned the gain all the way. Returned, since I bought locally, waiting for new shipment.

If you have a rca to headphone jack cable you can check out the amp on the sub very easily.

Yes they work. I got some for my pb2000s and I have hard wood Floors and I noticed a significant difference.

Why is it not advisable to run avr trim past 0?

Most AVRs clip the sub signal above 0db.

Thanks for the response. What do you mean by clip the signal and is there a way to determine which AVR does this?

I ordered an SB2000 Monday, it will be here Friday. I have a ported Elemental Designs A3 250 in the back corner behind the couch, the other available space is on the front wall that has a staircase behind it and opens into a dining room. The room is an oddball 13.3/4 x 28.5 open floor plan with a 20' ceiling abomination. Am I better off with the ported sub in the rear corner or front (& the SB2000 in the opposite position)?

Thanks

Ooops...just responded to your post in the SVS Owner's thread with the impression that you ordered a PB2000. If you actually ordered an SB2000, just wanted you to be aware that, although possible, conventional wisdom recommends not mixing sealed and ported subs.

This is very difficult to give you a direct clear cut answer on in the forum. While true I've been in rooms with setups mixing ported and sealed subs (even put up 1 on my own), the placement recommendations are not as direct as you would get with multiple subs of the same design, same actual subs.

My suggestion is you leave where your current A3250 is, then try and locate where your SB2000 would sound best with it. If you cannot find a satisfactory spot, then you'll have to switch things around. Blending a sealed and ported sub with entirely different frequency respone is very tricky, so you're going to have to work for it.

Thanks, my hope is it will work in front, my Wife does not like big boxes anywhere but not in the front of the room so I'm hoping the smaller SB will work there. If not I'll return it and get the PB.

Thanks

I don't know if it is from moving the woofers around but the difference is night & day. I watched The finale in Pacific Rim & all of Iron Man 3 & it sounds great!

Still have to break it in & then run ARC again but I am very happy so far!
