to me using room REW is too complicated, even watching the basics on You Tube is mind boggling ...
I haven't used REW, but I do have a Dayton OmniMic. It's pretty straightforward to use. If you can afford one, get one (the OmniMic v2) from parts-express.com.

I would immediately cancel the pending order, upgrade to a matching subwoofer (pb12-NSD) and on arrival, place the second subwoofer between the two sofas.

If you haven't already, today, I would download and install a freeware copy of REW, buy a measuring microphone and learn how it all works cause flying blind, is flying blind, now matter what one might thing.

(you really need to upgrade from the PB12-NDSs to Ultras or better)

Well I am shipping my NSD back to get the updated version of the PB-2000. I was just in my 1 Year upgrade policy. I will be testing the NSD and the PB -2000 in the dual setup to see how much a increase I will be getting. This will determine how fast I purchase another PB-2000 smile.gif . Ultras are as of now out of my price range as I need to purchase a nicer 7 speakers setup down the line as well as a projector. I think I've made my mind up and holding off on a nice projector until 4K is more standardized / Usable.

Focus.

Focus on your subwoofers.

(one Home Theater system at a time)

Haha, I am focused on my subwoofers. But I am sure you would understand. I am still using my 5 HTIB speakers from 10 years ago. Back then that whole system cost me $160. So yes I am focused on my subwoofers but can't wait to upgrade these awful speakers.

Oh, and I do. Short of winning the lottery, it's one system at a time.

BeeMan,

Have you any experience or know anyone that has tried this compared to the more expensive ones? What are you thoughts?

I haven't tried the iPhone size measuring microphone. Everything I've done has been with full size gear. The review section gives it high marks. Someone else will have to weigh in with their experience.

For the price it looks like it would be worth a try. Looks like I will have to pick up a TRRS to TRS adapter to work with my laptop and REW software. I think I'll order one up and test it out with my single PB12-NSD. When my PB-2000 arrives I'll test it out with the dual setup and then again when / if I get dual PB-2000's. I'll make sure I post my results.
