I went from a Polk PSW505 to a HSU VTF-3R (the original), and I think I need more.

My room is 10 x 20 x 8, so 1600 cu ft, and opens up into a little foyer which then goes both into the dining room, and upstairs.
It's not a huge space but it is long, and I'm up in the air over what my best sub option is - and I know this is a common question, but I'm hoping for a little more specific advice based on my room. That's why I brought pictures.

First the basic layout, just showing how it opens up:

And this is how I'm currently situated:

The only difference is there isn't the little baby PSW505 in the corner anymore, it's been replaced with the HSU.

My main question is, would I notice a substantial difference between the HSU and, say, a Rythmic F15 if placed in the same corner?
I'm around 70% music, 30% movies/TV shows, so the sealed Rythmik appeals to me. A 15" sub also appeals to me because I think like most of us, I want as much output as possible.

Another option I tossed around was two smaller subs in opposite corners. One would go in the same place it is now, and the other would be in a corner next to the entrance of the room.

I know this picture is a little weird, but it's the best visual I have - despite the purple walls. A sub would go in each front corner:

The rest of the setup is:

Polk 75T mains
25C center
45B surrounds
all running off a Yamaha RX-A2000

Besides YPAO I have no way to calibrate or measure my room. If I did, I'd be much more eager to go DIY. Actually I was considering building BF's Tuba HT this spring, but I'm not sure it's the sub for me.

I listen to a lot of stuff... rock, metal, indie, and then some hip hop, electronic and dub step where I really enjoy feeling the bass.
I'd love for my sub to go as low as possible.

So, after all that, here's what I'm leaning towards

Rythmik F15
SVS PB-2000
PSA XS- or XV-15
Then there's the PSA XS30 which may be the subwoofer of my dreams, and sometimes pops up in the outlet center for under $1100, but that's a lot of scratch for me.
I know I said the budget is around a grand but all the other ones listed above can be had used for like $800, except the new PB-2000 which costs that much new.

I don't think there are many dual options out there besides the smaller SVS subs, PB- or SB-1000s.
What else is there for me?

This post came out a little longer than I intended, sorry bout that rolleyes.gif
Any advice is greatly appreciated! I learn more every day browsing this crazy forum.

First I'm surprised at how well you type considering you have no fingers or thumbs. biggrin.gif But I'm thinking that that is not you in the photo and you are the one taking the photo. wink.gif

Anyway most here will tell you that dual subs is the way to go. But, how is the response in your room with just the one sub? Does it seem pretty even across the listening positions? If so, you can get away with one bigger sub. If not you might be better off going with two small subs like a pair of PB or SB1000s which are $949 shipped with a no risk 45 day trial period.

No self portrait here; I'm not that pretty.

As far as response, from no matter where I sit, I can't really tell where the bass is coming from. Even when I'm on the couch next to the sub, it all still sounds good to me.
Part of my problem with all this, though, is that I have no idea what two subs sound like. I have no idea what an amazing sub sounds like. I have no idea what a professionally calibrated home theater sounds like. I have no idea how good my stuff can sound - I just know I can play with a couple basic settings so that everything sounds good to me, which it does. But always wondering what I'm missing makes buying expensive gear pretty terrifying.

Nikon D7000 with a Rokinon fisheye for the picture with the dog, and the 18-105mm kit lens for the pano, and then I let photoshop stitch it together.

That seems to be a good deal. Why selling? Moving to something even more powerful? smile.gif

This place needs a warning. I came for reviews on a Psw10 and bought an FV15HP instead.

Very interesting thread. You and I have been exchanging pm for the last two days and we both agreed that I was meeting you in Monticello, NY on Sunday to buy one of your subs for $700.00 cash.

Sorry sir I was just going to message you... I would rather sell both at once as that was what I was trying to do.

I do apologize but my dad is selling his as well (he got me into these) and I was going to suggest you purchase his at that price too. Will message you with details!

Wow two days of pm and we had a deal, setup a meeting place and everything and I find out your selling to someone else by stumbling upon a thread. Not the way business is done. It's as if you were just playing me just in case you couldn't find anyone to take both. So much for a man's word being all that's needed . I mean come on dealing in an open forum with others after you already had an agreement with someone else. You could of at least given me the courtesy of telling me you are dealing with someone else after we already had an agreement. Heck you even pm me today telling me we were on for Sunday.

Why would you make arrangements with me and even pm me today about Sunday if you're openly trying to sell to other people. You could have just told me you didn't want to sell to me.
