I definitely think you should consider duals. However I think for around that price range the best bang for buck will be either 2 SVS PB12NSD's for $1299 shipped or 2 SVS SB2000's for $1299 shipped. Your room is small enough that sealed subs will get a good amount of room gain down low.

ahhh I forgot to check the SVS Outlet page. I'm probably pushing it going to 1200... In any case, I guess what attracts me to HSU are all the customization variations you can do.

But good find, I'll put it on my list.

Great googly moogly. Great call... but...

My wife would kill me. I was thinking the MBM later on for behind the couch and next to my spinning bike, and that might be pushing it (WAF)...

Should I also consider the PSA XV15-Base... I know nothing about PSA, build/sound quality... So it'd be a wild card. but $900 bucks shipped seems too good to be true.

The XV15 is a solid choice but I would go for the one without the bass. The bass might look better but it adds un-needed weight and it takes away from the advantage of a down firing design. A downfiring woofer that fires towards carpet reduces unwanted upper end harmonics.

I still say go for dual subs BUT if you must go for a single I think I'd go with the VTF15-H with your budget OR even consider the PSA XS30.

Pardon, but don't you mean the one without the base? I mean if they make one without bass that might not fly. smile.gif

I thought the base helped the bass, but I see whatcha mean... What's PSAs reputation?

Hi Claw,

I think you'd be happy with any of the above suggestons. PSA hasn't been around too long, but the founders are highly pedigreed and respected. Dr Hsu has also earned his chops. and then some. Both are held in high regards by most here, and either are capable of producing major smile.gif. To pick one over the other is truly splitting hairs.

Myself, I went with a VTF3 mk3, as it was the best they offered at the time... upgraded from an Onkyo HTIB (big step, but I wanted to avoid upgrade-itis... as if that were even possible eek.gif) . The VTF 15 wasn't offered then, and PSA didn't exist. I liked it so much I bought another. biggrin.gif

If I had to do it over... well... with what I know now, it'd be DIY , period. Dual Martysubs have my eye at the moment, but the Nothorns look tempting as well... it is a very slippery slope, and the rabbit hole is deep. Very, very deep.

It's for 'wall hung dude', and no, I don't need any help to 'hook-up'.... sheesh ... dirty minds around these parts....

And as far as wifey is concerned... it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. IMO, and YMMV rolleyes.gif
