I currently have a JBL ES250P which is a 12" 400wrms sub and I haven't been disappointed by it but I know I could do better. I'm building a basement home theater 12 x 18 (7.5 ft ceilings) and wanted to up the quality of my sub experience for movies. I have an Onkyo 818 and Onkyo m-282 powering Polk M60 fronts, CS2, Bic front high, sides, amd rears currently for speakers. I'm thinking about picking up a couple of monitor 50s and 30s for the side, rear, and front high speakers to replace the Bics. I know there are better speakers but I've been very happy with the sound of the Polk monitors for the money.

Although I got in on the backorder and have to wait until the end of March for the sub to arrive, I'm pretty excited to get this SVS sub in place. Just wondering if anyone else got in on the deal. Also, wondering if I should keep my current JBL and run it alongside the PB-12?

The PB12-NSD may not have more overall or peak output than the ES250P, but it will dig deeper and may have a more "accurate" or "tighter" sound.

As for running the two together: Give it a shot. If they play well together, you'll enjoy duals; else, sell it and pocket some money...or put it towards another PB12-NSD (maybe a B-stock unit from SVS).

Since you've got an LV12R on the way, I'll say the LV12R is better. smile.gif

Huh? What you talkin bout Willis? smile.gif

The SVS has free return shipping and a 45 day trial. I don't know if Rythmik covers return shipping, but they have AFAIK a 30 day trial period. It would cost you nothing to try the SVS if you end up preferring the Rythmik. If you preferred the SVS then it might cost you some return shipping. Either way it won't cost much and then you'll know for sure which was the right choice.

Ooops. Forgot you mentioned that already. Bummer. I'm sure the LV12R is a great sub so no worries.

I know exactly what you mean. svs charges sales tax(nj)and when your spending big money it was one of the deciding factors to purchase a different brand sub.

I received my PB12-NSD today and staring at the box. My HK AVR1710 was broken and sent back for warranty replacement. For the next 3-4 weeks, I will be staring at an unopened PB12-NSD. How unfortunate

Here we go again...I honestly think you're driving yourself (and others) insane with the amount of back and forth you're doing.

Pick one and commit.  They are both great quality subs and you've already got the ball rolling with Rythmik.  Stick with it and enjoy it.

SVS doesn't charge sales tax, the States Charge it and Have SVS collect it. And SVS probably gets a whopping 100 bucks each year each of the states they sell too for all the work they have to do to
keep track of it . Sales tax is a pain. I know I own a business in NYS and they are on you all the time about it. I wish I didn't have to charge it but you do.

Everything I'd read on the Lv12r made it sound like a good sub but not at the same level as the PB12 nsd and if people are normally happy paying $760 for this sub and I can get it at $599 then I think it must be a good deal. lol. From the specs it looks like the lv12r is a 300wrms sub whereas the PB12 is a 400wrms sub.

They're hard to compare because there's limited data out there on the LV12R. The wattage of the amplifiers, as a stand-alone datapoint, tells you very little, though, you can't even infer much about how loud they'll get, since driver efficiency varies significantly. But it seems like a safe guess that the SVS will have at least somewhat greater output, while the quality of the Rythmic's output is likely to be a little more refined. Beyond that is anyone's guess.
