I'm considering going with the new JL audio 12w7v3's   One in the front of the room and one in the rear.  Room is 9x24 7.1 currently.

What are the pro's and con's to using these sub woofers?  As far as area goes for front and back i have the avl space of 24x24x96 so i should have no issues with having space to do a ported box.

Would i want to down fire port and sub? Which direction will work best? I have around 2000 watts RMS to play with.

Coming from car audio where MDF ruled the scene which wood will work best here that can be stained?

Thanks a ton guys! Look forward to designing the enclosure tomorrow!

Epson 8350

DIY 200" 2:35

B&W 7.1 Setup

A few 18" subs here and there!

I'd take this over to the DIY speakers & sub forum, this forum is about finished home subwoofers for the most part. Someone there might be willing to find the specs for those and model enclosures if you don't want to do the homework (using winisd or other modeling programs using Thiele Small parameters for those). Some car subs just aren't suitable for home use.
