Klipsch SW-311 for $550? Is there a reason I shouldn't buy this immediately? Or should I go Rythmik - AVS Forum

Current sub: Premier Accoustic PA120.

I recently moved into a house with a roughly 15x28 foot room. Theater area takes up about half this, but obviously the sound has to contend with the whole room and the fact that it's in the LOWER level of a split level house. With carpet.

Obviously the PA120 is just not cutting it anymore. Is there a reason I shouldn't immediately jump on this deal:
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-SW-311-Black-10-inch-Subwoofer/dp/B0046L8QHS/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1397347197&sr=8-9&keywords=klipsch+subwoofer

The specs are right and the reviews are right. I know people speak highly of Rythmik here, and power isn't everything (300 RMS in the Rythmik vs 500 in the Klipsch).

I intend to put the PA to work closer to the seating area since I do have 2 sub pre-outs. I just really need my rumblage improved.

Get the Rythmik, likely a much better sub than the PA and Klipsch subs.

I assume you're talking about the Rythmik LV12R? I'm also of the opinion that it is likely to be better than the SW-311. You'll be paying more for the LV12R though since it is $599 and you have to add shipping.

You might also consider the SVS PB-1000 which is $499 (shipping included). Or the Hsu VTF-2 Mk4 at $559 (+$67 shipping).

I had the similar Klipsch SW310 for a week from newegg bundle deal and sold it. Replaced it with SVS SB12-NSD which is soooo much better. I would go for the lv12r if I had room.

You have a huge area to fill. If your budget allows, i would go with a couple of the rythmik FV15hp.

Thanks for the input. I likely will go with the LV12R. I'm afraid my budget cannot allow for even one FV15hp, but I sure wish it could. smile.gif

I considered that model Klipsch because of its small size (small was very important to me for this particular application) and because it actually had measurements of its output on data-bass.com.
