You shouldn't take it personal if you own a PSA sub. I use to be a "brand soldier" when i had my SVS subs and Epik Empire. I stopped when I remembered that I am an adult and a male eek.gifbiggrin.gif It was stupid really. Dissension is a beautiful thing. It's the reason we all have so many quality options. Vetting lead to improvements within a product's life cycle and improved replacements. Also, it's good to take a breather from some of these threads.

+1. Unfortunately, 'brand soldier' happens quite a bit at any forum. Like you, I used to be one then realized WHY? Good to have options.

Fwiw all the power x subs that have the dome dust cap are the updated versions. This started over a year ago...the first run of power x subs had a inverted dust cap(which is what was tested). Tom told me from my initial purchase that some optimizations were done via the driver and dsp post Ricci's tests.

^ Well then that means I do as well. I knew the one arriving tomorrow was updated but I wasn't sure about the one I got in November. That's good news, it makes me happy.

They have been updated since early March 2013. The initial November 2012-Feb 2013 are the previous version from my understanding.

Ok just to update...no we do not have the latest updated drivers. The new Power X subs are the SE version with a Lab 15 variant driver and optimized dsp amp. The good news is there will be a upgrade program for the previous Power X lineup.

This is a similar driver that Mark Seaton uses in the Submersive. 12 spoke cast basket with double stacked 80oz magnents and 2" stroke. cool.gif

The upside is I could send my sub back (and I guess be without a sub) and "upgrade", or I could be happy with what I've got. However, having ordered mid-April...this is a little frustrating. I would have waited 2 weeks no problem.

What is frustrating? Send Tom a email, he will send a return label for your XV15, pay the extra 100.00, you can recieve a XV15se. Seems like a good deal to me no?

Back on track, JakiChan....

I'll add another voice that says order both and send back the "loser" (I'm sure there is no loser...only your choice).

I'm in the same situation as you - albeit a slightly smaller room (2800 cu/ft), and more money to spend. I'm ordering the PB12 plus and the XS30se. I'll decide what I like after listening. That's really the BEST way to choose.

The Hsu ULS-15 is a sealed design, while the PSA XV15se is a much larger ported design. A better match to the Hsu would be the XS15se (sealed). I've auditioned the Hsu at Hsu Research and at home, and also auditioned the SVS SB13-Ultra and the PSA XS30 (old version) at home. I kept the SVS and the PSA, and took the Hsu back. Not saying the ULS-15 isn't a fine subwoofer, I just preferred the other two. The only complaint I had with the PSA (and the Hsu) was its inability to play certain music to my standards (most music was very good on both), which the SE versions have totally taken care of. Now I don't know this first hand (haven't updated my PSA), but BillyP came to the same conclusion when testing it with the same music I tested it with (he too had the original XS30 and SB13-Ultra). Bill stated the new drivers on the PSA perform flawlessly on those test pieces.
