I also plan to sell my SB12 NSD and go with a SB13 Ultra in my small sealed bedroom that is around 14x13. It could be over kill so who knows.
For movies? Nah. Huge upgrade. You'd think the slightly larger driver wouldn't result in such a huge difference, and if you're well within SPL limits of the the 12" -well what could the ultra offer? But you'd be wrong.
Is SVS the ID company you are willing to look at? If not then I suggest at least taking a look at the PSA XS15se- it was just reviewed on data-bass and competed very well with the sb13-ultra, for about half the price. Seems like some killer value! Very reputable company as the owners were former SVS guys (one is the V in SVS).
Another choice would be PS 215X from reaction audio. Haven't seen any measurements but it sure looks like a beast!

For its size, there isn't any I.D. sub I know of that will outperform the Ultra. I have the SB13-Ultra in a 3,500 cu. ft. room (music only) and it's amazing. I also tested it out in my 3,400 cu. ft. family room for movie LFE and was surprised what a 13-1/2 inch driver could do. However, Rythmik has a few options worth considering as well. One being the E15HP. It's not too much larger than the Ultra and is certainly worth a look.
I was referring to my archaic HDMI capability, and think I was right in saying so. I understand where the condescending remarks come from; they seems to be superfluous throughout these threads if you don't say the precise word or exact phraseology. I don't mind. They don't bother me because my mother brought me up correctly.
My system is 7.1. I don't have anything like the systems some of you guys have here, 9.2, 11.2, 13.2, but it's decent.
I was hoping to get dual subs and like this option with the SB13's.
I just bought the sb13 ultra and it's rock solid and articulated down to 20hz (my guess) if you want subsonic I would definitely go with the pb13 ultra
