I have real leather coaster theater seats. Did a little research to determine best placement for the shakers please see pics and chime in.

For the love seat I will install a hardwood beam inside the sofa and bolt it to the side and place 2 shakers for each seat.

Where iam troubled at is the recliners they have very little room in the bottom do to reclining hardware.

Is placement better in the rear or would it matter if I place them in the lower back area

If they have to be on the rear of the chair, I would put them as low as possible.

what i meant was that if they have to be mounted to the rear of the chair , mount them as low as possible on the rear of the chair ( so they are behind your lower back ) and not way to high ( like behind your head ).

by having them lower on the back of the chair, i think you will still get a good amount of energy transferring throughout your entire body ( lower legs and back )

I just finished installing my 4 this week on an L-shaped sectional. My hands are cramped from pulling the 1000+ staples out with needle nose pliars so that I could save the dust covers, but the finished product is great. I used poplar boards going across the bottom near the rear of the couch. They are powered by a 250 watt Dayton Sub amp. My first reaction was a but underwhelming, but after adjusting the sub level on my receiver and watching a proper source (Tron bluray) I was pretty impressed with the results. Certainly not the earthquake I was expecting, but a definite improvement. Now I need a new receiver with Sub-Eq so that I can run these a little hotter than my other subs and adjust them independently.
