500 or less for a sub *no more*.

I've researched all day today and I've come down to one sub.

SVS PB-1000

I am coming from an Aperion Audio Bravus (not the IIa) 10d that has a blown plate amp. I never was satisfied with the Bravus' low end so I'm looking to fix that and not pay so much for looks.

I may have missed agood product or two as most of these comparison forums are from <2013 and I am hoping there isn't something new out there now I should be aware of.

I am stuck at spending no more than 500. And yes ive read this link

http://www.audioholics.com/how-to-shop/500-subwoofer-roundup

Ive also seen the respected Jim Wilson (the Jman) reviews on the svs.

Should I be confident in this purchase?

Thanks for any help gentleman.

About the only competition for the PB-1000 at a strict $500 budget is the Reaction Audio BPS-212.

There's really only 2 options at that exact price point. It's the Reaction BPS 212 or the SVS PB1000.

One caveat: The OP didn't say how big his room is. If he has a large space to fill the Premier Acoustics PA-150 has a lot of output but doesn't go as low.

The PB12-NSD can be had in the outlet section at times for 549.00. I know you said no more then 500.00, but it would be foolish not to consider it being you can get 50% more output for only 50.00 more.

The PB-1000 gets my vote. The Reaction Audio is a good sub and will have an output advantage above 30hz, but the SVS will have it beat down low.

Room size is 16x15x8
Listening preferences are evenly split. But would have movies priority.

Looks like most people with my room size are saying the pb-1000 should suffice for my room size,

I also could use a cheap mid bass sub from an old system to help carry the acoustics around if it won't be detrimental.

I've decided to go with the SVS pb1k. Going over the 500 dollar range, while extremely tempting, would be like crossing the demilitarized zone into N. Korea to my wife.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help and have a nice weekend!

Aperion Audio 4t towers. Aperion Audio 5c center channel. Aperion Audio 4b rears. (In the market for me sub) Sony stn-1030.

Yeah you should go for PB12...what's $50? That's like £25, nothing..for higher quality driver, 2" bigger woofer..

Krell Evolution 900e x 7

Bose Jewel speakers.

Jealous of my speakers?
