Wow... I had a PB13-U in a 1,520cubic feet room and I thought that I am crazy to have this beast in my room. How do you like it?

Bass, please. Shaken, not stirred.

I'm liking it so far. I'm gonna wait til I really try it out to give my final thoughts on it. As of now, I can say its def a whole body experience with this thing haha. I watched Minority report last night, and while it sounded great with my PB 2000, it sounds just better with the ultra. the sonic boom gun scene in particular. It went through my whole body with the ultra. The incredible hulk school scene as well. When the turn the canons on, I really could feel each sound wave I guess it is that they shoot at him.

I have to say I like it, BUT: it hits a lot lower than the PB-2000 and with more power. it shakes and rattles my room A LOT more than the PB-2000 and I really don't like that my room is so crappy, and since I'm renting, I cant treat it or do anything to it, nor do I want to even spend the money. I have it in 20HZ mode since I don't want it going any lower and with anymore power haha It is a beast, but I'm really considering if I really NEED an ultra in my room right now when the PB-2000 was just perfect for me.

If you put it in 16hz mode it actually reduces the output above 20hz a little. Most of the noise and rattling probably occur from the higher sub frequencies.
You can always turn the gain down a little.
Since you are renting you might end up in a larger room at some point so I would keep the ultra if it were me.

Imagine if you got duals !!!! You would need to post a one hour video....That thing looks so damn solid !!! I was thinking what subs should I get when I upgrade and I think your SVS unboxing videos might have pushed me in that direction.

Dual ultras is what I want once I get a dedicated theater room. This thing is a beast. I've read about SVS since I first posted on these forums back in college like 3 or 4 years ago. I've always wanted to try them, and now that I have, I really don't think I'll ever buy anything else. I know Seaton Submersives are like the benchmark subs, but dual submersives are like over 5k, and you need more electrical in your home to get them to run. $3800 for dual PB 13 Ultras is great for 99% of my bass needs. Proper room, and properly calibrated, I'm sure they'll get the job done. SVS' site is easy to use, they get in contact with you quickly, ship your order next day, and are great people to deal with. Their 45 day free trial and warranties are fantastic as well as the upgrade policy. If Seaton ever gets his website properly running like SVS', I MAY consider going with Submersives when the time comes, but until then, it's SVS for me.

Having said all of that, there are other great subs out there as well. Seaton obviously, PSA, HSU, Outlaw, Rythmik, and Reaction Audio is getting love here recently. Check em out too. SVS just fits the bill for me, and they sound great. If your contemplating getting an SVS, I say stop reading this and order one NOW. With the 45 day free trial, why the hell wouldn't you try one?

Sadly this won't happen. I wrestled the ultra in my room and set it up. I aint movin it again unless I absolutely have to haha.
The PB-2000 sounds great in my room as well, but the Ultra is really a whole body experience. There's just much more of everything the 2000 offers. Sonic boom gun scene in Minority Report for example: When it gets shot, I got legit slammed with the ultra. The PB -2000 was no slouch either, but the Ultra just really slammed me. That's the main difference I've noticed so far.

Congrats on the purchase. Keep in mind placement is "key". Heck, I have an 18" SI tuned to 18hz and I toyed with it in a 10x14 room (just for chuckles) and just slapped it in the front middle (laying on its side) and put my center channel on it and it sounds like ca-ca. So I moved it about 6' to the left, stood it upright and my gosh it was a beast!! I think I could of easily would of cracked the double pane windows in there and also my PJ on the shelf could not hold a picture due to the SPL output. Oh also my daughters room which was 2 other rooms down the hall said he bookshelf and closet door was rumbling .

But best of all have fun as that PB13 is a beast and I highly praise it for its awesome performance!!

If you have good output below 20hz anything that can rattle or vibrate will. If I run the Pulse server scene at reference you can hear all the windows in my house flexing...while it is kind of cool, it is also annoying at the same time. The reason being frequencies that low are felt more then heard, so vibrations and rattles can audible over the fundamental. Frequencies above 30hz are so loud and powerful that they actually mask the room noises. So I completely understand where the OP is coming from. Imo to truly enjoy ULF, one needs a room that is designed for it.

Batman, congrats on the PB13U!!

Batman, congrats on the PB13U!!

Yea I agree totally. This sub is a total BEAST! I even turned the volume lower and this thing STILL vibrates and rattles stuff even when its not even movie watching level for me. It sounds fantastic at -10db, which is where I usually listened with my PB-2000, but I don't wanna piss my neighbors off or the people who are attached to my town house. This thing is totally amazing, BUT I'm realizing that I really don't have the proper room, or single family home for that matter haha, to really take advantage of all of the benefits it offers over my PB-2000. SVS' 45 day free trial really is a thing of true beauty. My review will be up by the end of the day today. Stay tuned....

Hey guys!

I'm still evaluating my Ultra, so my review of it will come soon, but I just have to say this: It didn't seem like any of my neighbors were home during the day today, so I wanted to let the Ultra rip. I popped Inception in to check it out. Just like what I said about the Transformers movies: HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

The Mr. Charles scene when Leo says "You're in a dream." I have never known the bass that accompanies that scene was that good. Oh my god! I couldn't even begin to tell you what frequency it was but there was this ongoing pulse for about 7 seconds that sounded totally amazing with the Ultra! I've never heard or felt anything like that before. I could feel it in my body during that scene. The sub did not sound stressed or out of control whatsoever! I decided to really try it out and I cranked my AVR to reference level. The Ultra basically sounded like it was mocking me. I could imagine it talking to me saying "Is that all you got??? Really??" The bass was so controlled and clean. I even put my ear to the sub and I could not detect any port noise whatsoever. Just raw bass was coming out of this BEAST! I have to say I was in shock. This thing is def the real deal!

Sounds like you found the downside of owning that sub. It's too much sub for your living arrangement. Send it to me.....lol.

At 2 grand it may not be worth keeping if your space is adequately handled by the PB2000.

That's what I'm thinking unfortunately The PB-2000 was just absolutely perfect in my current room. The Ultra is a beast, but since I can't utilize her full potential, and the PB-2000 was more than adequate for my space, I just can't justify keeping it, financially or logistically.

My fiancé and I have recently decided to move back home to PA and my mom offered for us to live rent free with her til we save for our first house. Having a BSBA, I'd have to be an idiot to not recognize the financial benefits of moving back home. The faster I get my house, the faster I'll get my actual theater room where I will have 2 Ultras It'll suck, but keeping the end goal in mind will make it worth it. Logistically, keeping the Ultra is not an option at all. I am so glad that SVS offers the 45 day free trial so I could at least try one out.

I'm going to be sad to see her go, but for now.....I got about 41 days left hahahaha I got Lone Survivor, Gravity, and Wolf of Wall Street on tap for today and tonight. Should be a good time I keep saying my review is coming. It is. Stay tuned....

My fiancé and I have recently decided to move back home to PA and my mom offered for us to live rent free with her til we save for our first house. Having a BSBA, I'd have to be an idiot to not recognize the financial benefits of moving back home. Enjoy!!!

That deal of moving back home is a great deal and I agree, you'd be a fool not to take it. By the time you get your funds together and decide to buy your own home, I'm sure something better than the ultra will be available.

I have always wanted a PB13 Ultra but couldn't justifying paying that amount for one sub when I have to very good subs for the same price. My dedicated home theater room isn't very large either.

This is what I am hoping to god for! I can't see myself not going with SVS now, so I can't wait to see what they have out in about 3-5 years as their flagship ported model. I really don't know what else they could do to the Ultra besides make a PB-15 or PB-18 Those cabinets may be way too big for most people. I'm anxious to see what they have out when the times comes for me to put my theater together.

Make sure you have your home theater installed at the same time your home is being built. Tell the contractor that you want to have two

So in your setup does the pb13 ultra sound better at low volumes compared to the pb-2000 or does it require high volumes to really hear the difference?

The PB 13 Ultra sounds better at low volumes and high volumes. The bass is more full at low volumes than the PB-2000. The Ultra is all around just a much better subwoofer than the PB-2000. No doubt about it. The PB-2000 is a great sub as well. Because of the cost difference and that I'm moving back home, sadly, the Ultra just has to go back. I can't justify keeping it and being out the money if I can't even set my gear up up again until I buy my house. I was totally pleased and satisfied with the performance the PB-2000 gives in my room right now. The Ultra just shed some light as to how much better it can be, and I'm glad I got to try one out. If you have the space and the budget, get the Ultra and never look back, but the PB-2000 is no slouch either. They're both great, but the Ultra is just better.

Split the difference and get a PB12-Plus. It's a great performer.
