can i use any rca

to connect my sub to my onkyo receiver?

yup. Most people use coaxial cable for sub for the improved noise rejection it offers

It will work fine but if you can find the same thing in RG6 instead of RG59 for around the same price, I would get that.

Better yet, if it's a long cable (like way more than 10 feet) use a cable that's designed for the job.
Like the BlueJeans subwoofer cable.

Note that RG6 is a generic type. Belden make's over 40 different RG6 models. Some are good and some are not.
