Sub recommendation

I'm looking for a small cheap ($350MAX) subwoofer for my room. I live in Australia so I am limited to what I can buy.
I just bought some P4s and a N22, I know they're not the best but they sure are pretty, and I was looking into buying the S8 but it seems to have bad reviews.

I would love to get the HSU STF-2 but I cant in Australia.
The Boston Acoustics ASW 250 is $399 which is slightly over my limit. Worth it?
Is the Polk Audio PSW110 good for music?

The room is about 5mx5m but built into the roof so the ceiling has some funky angles.
I use the system for 80% music, 10% movies/tv shows, and 10% computer media.

Any advice would be appreciated

Unfortunately, it's difficult to recommend any sub unless we know what is available to you in your part of Australia. Out of the two you listed, it's probably a toss up (same size driver, same powered amplifier with Polk having a better warranty). The Polk is around $200 in the U.S., while the B.A. is about $350, which tells me that the Polk is obviously the better deal, but don't know if it is a better sub. I couldn't find any reviews on the B.A., but found the following on the Polk: http://hometheaterreview.com/polk-ps...ofer-reviewed/

Your choice.

How about building your own? Are drivers readily available there?

See if you can find one of these Infinity drivers discussed here 4 Infinity 1260's - Completed (with pics) or Best enclosure box design for a $59 Infinity 1260. ? Help me design one! or search other threads on the Infinity 1260 driver, believe also the 1262 has several threads, they're pretty cheap here in the US but supposedly available worldwide and not hard to build into a very nice sub....just a thought.

Would you happen to know what the smallest size the enclosure you could build with this sub?
Is the 10-inch or even the 8-inch just as good? The smaller the better

A few companies to consider are Krix, SUBsonic and Classic Audio. I believe all of them are from 'down unda', so maybe one of them has something that would work for you.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

Not sure if you guys care but ended up with a Velodyne Impact-10. Sounds pretty good to me. I'm happy with it

We always care . It's good to know that the O.P. (you) has made a decision and not let the people who tried to help left hanging.
