Just out of curiosity, what is your room size and typical listening level? Are you absolutely sure that only 10Hz will do, because that can take a lot of subwoofage? The 4000 ULF is a low-frequency monster, and as Jeff suggested, his S2 is a smaller low frequency monster. But 10Hz, $3000, and WAF might be a pretty tough combination. As a practical matter, getting to the mid-teens is outstanding for most home theaters, and much better than commercial theaters can do. That might be a more feasible goal.

Mike

If you are worried about WAF... Look to Funk Audio. I have 18.0c's myself (Funk's smallest production sub, they can make 15s too, but no cost or SQ benefit, just size, so not worth it imo) and they can play down to 10hz, plus the cabinets look great and are in furniture grade veneers that match my entertainment console.

This is my inroom response (not turned all the way up of course):

As to how loud?

This is the 18.0, the current 18.0c is ~2-3db less (the one listed on Data-Bass is an old totally different design).

bull, just curious but why 10 hz? What do you have material wise that you need that much for? Is it specific for music? For movies you could get a tactical transducer, like a buttkicker that can possibly reach that. The amount of material to chase that low is not over abundant at this time to my knowledge. I have a buttkicker installed in my couch for lower LFE that my 3 subs don't hit.

What's your room size? Sealed or open to other rooms?

Letting your wife choose premium finishes definitely helps with WAF… at least it did for me.

Yeah, besides...unless you actually measure it, you probably wont hear it somewhere below 20, so...they can just throw random number there and hope you are not smart.

http://www.crowsontech.com/go/crowso...opDefault.aspx

I just installed a pair of Crowson motion actuators this weekend, and they're an absolute bargain for the amount of infrasonic bass they deliver! This is the first time I've experienced solid, bone rattling output well into the single digits (only amplifier limited). These things are truly incredible, and they should have extremely high WAF, given they're nearly hidden once installed.

Speakers: PSA (MT-110 x2, MTM-210C, MT-110SR x2); SVS Satellite x4
Subs: PSA V1800 x2, SVS PC12+, B1200D x2
Actuators: Crowson Tech Shadow-8 x2
Processing: Denon X4200, MiniDSP HD, NU6000DSP

On Data-Bass site http://www.data-bass.com/systems clicking on the column heading of 10 hz does indeed show one of the highest ranked commercial subwoofs that comes up after JTR 4000ULF is a dual sealed: the JTR Captivator S2.

The newly released Captivator 2400ULF (ported with Fb 14 hz) should be up there in 10 hz ranking too. Actually even a touch higher than S2 .

I understand! But, you just can't get down to 10Hz, in any but the very smallest rooms, without either very large capable subs, or numerous capable subs, or both. You never have mentioned your room size, and even estimating the dimensions would help you to get more targeted advice. But, unless your room is very small, you would probably be much better advised to re-align your sights. Cap 1400's are not terribly large and will get you very good performance down to the low teens. If you need to go with subs even smaller than that, I'm just not quite sure what to recommend. How loud do you typically listen? Room size and listening level are both key attributes in determining appropriate subwoofer capacity.

If you want to go 18 port, there is no other logical way besides the approximate 22x20 footprint. Cut of 1-2 inches here sacrifices performance without gaining much smaller footprint.

Height of 30 is par for the course for this performance level, and YMMV but to me height tends to be the most available space in typical hometheaters.

30 height is also ideal IMHO because less height means less performance, and more height becomes imposing as typical listeners' ear and eye height is at 36".

need 10 hurtz what to buy, WAF

Is 10 Hz an absolute requirement, or just a number you picked to represent "really really low?" My Hsu VTF-2 will reach down to 16 Hz, it's not massive but it's end table-sized. I agree with others, WAF vs. 10 Hz is never going to work. :}
